Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake have been absent for Manchester City in recent weeks

Manchester City have been handed a significant injury boost ahead of their return to Premier League action with Nathan Ake back in training.

The Dutchman has been sidelined for a number of weeks with a hamstring issue sustained in the September international break while in action for the Netherlands. However, the defender has now returned to training with City and is set to be available for the weekend clash with Wolves.

But there was no sign of playmaker Kevin De Bruyne during the open section of training on Thursday, placing further doubt on when the Belgian might return. He is unlikely to be involved against Wolves and the midweek Champions League date with Sparta Prague could also come too soon.

There was no sign of Kyle Walker or Manuel Akanji during the brief period the media were allowed to watch training on Thursday. Savinho and Ederson were also not present but the pair have yet to return following international exertions for Brazil.

City have been hit with injuries in the early stages of the season. Here's the latest from the Etihad treatment room.
