Latest Liverpool injury news as two miss Chelsea after Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott update
The latest Liverpool news ahead of the Premier League game against Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday
Arne Slot could have up to four players missing for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea as domestic action returns from the international break. The Reds host Enzo Maresca’s side at Anfield on Sunday afternoon (4.30pm kick-off).
Concerns over the fitness of Alexis Mac Allister, Caoimhin Kelleher and Kostas Tsimikas have been erased with both in action for their respective countries in the second game of the international break. That therefore suggests that all three will be fit enough to feature for Liverpool against Chelsea this weekend.
There is more uncertainty over Federico Chiesa. The winger has missed the Champions League clash against Bologna and the Premier League game against Crystal Palace through injury, which therefore puts his availability against Chelsea in doubt.
In his last update, Slot said that he didn’t expect the Italian to be out for very long. There has however been no definite timeframe put on his absence. Another one who is a doubt is Wataru Endo. The Japanese international missed his nation’s World Cup qualifier against Asia on Tuesday through illness.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot wasn’t giving much away when addressing injuries in his squad. “We've got quite some issues and we can only judge that from today as it's the first day they are all in,” he said.
“Macca (Mac Allister) missed one game, played the second. Kostas miss England... I can name them all, and we have a few issues, so we will see. Endo was sick, we will see."
There are two players who will definitely not be able to feature against Chelsea. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker suffered a hamstring injury in the win against Crystal Palace and is expected to be out until after the November international break.
Harvey Elliott is also another expected absentee. The 21-year-old suffered a fractured foot during training with the England U21s back in September. He is back training on the grass as he steps up his recovery. But the game against Chelsea could come just too soon for the midfielder.
