Celtic legend Scott Brown signs up for return to playing

SCOTT BROWN will take to the field once again after signing up to a one-off match involving a side in Scotland's SEVENTH tier.
The Celtic legend and current Ayr United manager has committed to playing in a charity game for a West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) club.
Brown, 39, will turn out for St Roch's of the WoSFL First Division tomorrow as a special guest alongside some other Hoops heroes.
The ex-Celts skipper hasn't played since March 2022, in a 2-0 loss to Hearts whilst at Aberdeen.
Since then he's been manager of Fleetwood Town and Ayr.
The game this weekend has been organised in memory of Gerry Collins, who played for St Roch's as well as Ayr, Partick Thistle and Hamilton.
St Roch's, who play at James McGrory Park and are nicknamed the Candy, play in green and white and have a strong connection to the Hoops.
The game will take place at their home ground in the north east of Glasgow with kick-off at 1pm, with a St Roch's legends XI taking on a Dukla select side.
A statement from the club on Brown's involvement read: "With the St Rochs Select vs Dukla Select charity match happening this Sunday, it’s time to announce to announce the last name for the Dukla side!
"Pulling out all the stops...
"Captain. Leader. Legend.
"Serial Winner. Scott Brown."
Brown was only confirmed as a participant on Friday evening, and he will join two other Celtic fan favourites.
Charlie Mulgrew and Simon Donnelly will also both suit up for the game.
A post to advertise the match read as follows: "Come along to James McGrory Park to see a St Roch's select take on a Dukla Select which will feature Charlie Mulgrew, Simon Donnelly as well as a host of other names you will know.
"Kick off is 1pm and entry is £5 on the gate with proceeds going to charity."
One ecstatic fan said in response: "Outstanding looking forwards to Broony joining the Candy Legends."
"Ooft! Amazing," said another.
"Quality announcement," came a third reply.
Former Scottish politician and famous Celtic fan Tommy Sheridan is also due to take part, playing for the Dukla team.
He said: "Great news. Big Gerry Collins will be cheering in heaven. Broony is a legend and a thoroughly decent guy. His presence in the Dukla team will improve our chances on the park and boost the attendance.
"Supporters will turn up to watch, honour big Gerry and support three local charities."
