Gabriel Magalhaes is putting Arsenal's surprise 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth quickly behind him. After a first loss of the season for Mikel Arteta's side, there are bigger challenges on the horizon.
Second-half goals from Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert condemned the Gunners to a first domestic away defeat in 2024. Having entered the game in a strong position, William Saliba's red card after just 30 minutes changed the complexion of things.
He was sent off following a foul on Evanilson that denied Bournemouth a clear goalscoring opportunity. It is the third time an Arsenal player has been dismissed already this term.
Gabriel, who was then partnered by Jakub Kiwior - but only until the centre-back was subsequently subbed back off late on - has quickly shifted attention. With the third Champions League group phase match coming up on Tuesday against Shakhtar Donetsk and the visit of Liverpool following, Arsenal know they need to respond.
Despite the disappointing manner of defeat, Gabriel isn't getting too bogged down by things. As one of the few Arsenal players to post online following the game, he wrote on Instagram: "Always together!! thank you fans for your incredible support!! see you on Tuesday!! [bicep emoji]".
The Brazilian was also quick to comfort Saliba, adding an image of the pair to his story with a heart emoji. Riccardo Calafiori has echoed a similar sentiment.

He simply said, "Head up [red heart emoji]" on his Instagram story. Both players are likely to be in action in Europe for Arsenal as they enter a tough run of matches.
Following Shakhtar and Liverpool is an away Carabao Cup fourth round tie at Preston North End, but that comes before three away matches in a row against Newcastle, Inter, and Chelsea. Arsenal also face Manchester United and Ligue 1 high-flyers Monaco in the upcoming run.
