  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The 28-year-old has missed City's last three games with, according to manager Gareth Taylor, a "slight niggle". The former Arsenal star was absent for her new team's 2-1 comeback win over Aston Villa on Sunday and now the Dutch national team have announced Miedema is not fit for their friendlies against Indonesia and Denmark.

  • WHAT NETHERLANDS SAID

The Netherlands' women's team tweeted: "Vivianne Miedema is unfortunately not fit enough to participate in the matches against Indonesia and Denmark. She will therefore not join the squad in Zeist today. No replacement will be called up for the time being."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Miedema left Arsenal at the end of her contract in the summer, before joining City on a three-year deal and since then she has scored two goals in five matches. The former Bayern Munich attacker is the Women's Super League's all-time leading scorer so they will hope she is back fit very soon.
