‘One of the best’ – Rangers flop Fabio Silva inspires new team to first win of season as fans say ‘what a difference’

FABIO SILVA's time at Rangers could be classed as somewhere between forgetful and dreadful.
And after a sluggish start to the season at his new club it looked liked his latest move would follow a similar theme - until tonight.
The Portuguese forward came to Ibrox with high hopes in January but failed to live up to his reputation and price tag, having cost Wolverhampton Wanderers a cool £35m not so long ago.
He played regularly but only managed an underwhelming return of six goals in 25 appearances for the Light Blues.
The former Benfica starlet was also criticised for his theatrics during an Old Firm clash against Celtic and for getting into spats with Gers fans.
The 22-year-old joined Las Palmas in August and until now, he and his team mates had been struggling in La Liga.
And at the end of last month he missed a glorious chance against Villarreal that was described as "worse than you think" - but did find the net moments later.
But he's made up for that now by scoring and starring in Los Amarillos' FIRST win of the season.
And it couldn't have been a more crucial time to break the duck, given the match was against fellow strugglers Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium.
Las Palmas were at the foot of the table before kick-off tonight but they have now swapped places with Los Ches in second-last.
Silva bagged Las Palmas' second goal in a 3-2 win, making the score 2-1 at the time.
He also had a hand in Las Palmas' equaliser at 1-1, dropping into space to play a pass into Adnan Januzaj, who's shot was parried into the path of Alex Munoz who tucked the ball home.
Alberto Moleiro hit the net for the team's third goal - thanks to a fine assist from Scotland cap Oli McBurnie - with Pepelu and Cesar Tarrega on the scoresheet in vein for Valencia.
Silva's strike came in the 52nd minute as he pounced on Jose Campana's knock-down to fire the ball into the corner of the net from the centre of the box to the delight of the travelling support.
Several fans on social media also praised Silva and the team.
In reply to the team posting news of Silva's goal on Twitter (X), this fan said: "What a difference in play, what madness, playing like this we may not be able to avoid relegation."
A second replied: "For the first time this season we are playing well."
And a third said: "Tell me I'm dreaming, that there is a miracle, gentlemen."
Another observer said: "A tricky match, not for the faint of heart. Las Palmas was less bad than its rival. Januzaj, Fabio Silva and [Jesper] Cillesen were the best."
Another supporter said: "The pass, the layoff, the goal," with a fire emoji at the end.
While this fan said simply: "What a goal."
