Robbie Savage lamented Club Brugge's defending as the Belgians found themselves a goal down at the San Siro thanks to Christian Pulisic's 34th-minute opener direct from a corner. Nicky Hayen's side had been the better team in Milan, but a lapse in concentration from former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet saw Pulisic's inswinging delivery fly straight into the back of the visitors' net.

Christian Pulisic put AC Milan a goal up against Club Brugge in bizarre circumstances in the UEFA Champions League as he scored direct from a corner.
The American right-winger had come over to the left-hand side to swing in a corner with his right foot, and the delivery went all the way in past goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to put the Italian side a goal to the good on 34 minutes.
Brugge, who arrived in Milan off the back of a 1-0 win over Sturm Graz in Matchday 2, had the better of the early exchanges at the San Siro before Pulisic struck, and manager Nicky Hayen watched on in disbelief on the touchline.
TNT Sports co-commentator Robbie Savage couldn’t believe it, and criticised former Liverpool goalkeeper Mignolet for not dealing with the inswinger.
“They got done by a couple of set pieces on Matchday 1 by Liverpool,” Savage said in the TNT Sports gantry.
“On this occasion, Pulisic whips one into that near post. It goes straight in. Just watch the goalkeeper. Oh, it’s poor goalkeeping for me! No touch from [Matteo] Gabbia, was there? It goes straight in.
“Disappointing, Brugge, with the way they’ve played in this first half. It’s a great delivery, and 1-0 Milan. Gabbia put the goalkeeper off with his run to the near post. It’s a great delivery from Pulisic.
“I think, to go straight in from a corner at any level, you’ve got to be so disappointed.”
