DUNFERMLINE have given their Championship rivals a massive start this season but the Pars look to have clicked at last and they're big value at 15/8 to beat Partick tomorrow.

James McPake's players put bang in-form Livingston to the sword at East End Park on Tuesday and that 3-0 win can prove a springboard to re-igniting their pre-season play-off hopes.

Dunfermline's win over the unbeaten Lions was only a second 3 points of the season but they'd been showing steady improvement and acquitted themselves particularly well in a 2-1 defeat at leaders and local rivals Falkirk last weekend.

Skipper Kyle Benedictus was back after 2 months out to play a scoring part in the win over Livingston and McPake insists the previous 0-0 draw at Morton was way better than the scoreline suggested with the finishing less than clinical.

Partick travel east having beaten the Pars with a late winner at Firhill 6 weeks ago and while the Jags 4 match unbeaten run includes wins in their last two, I reckon Dunfermline can make it back to back home wins before next week's trip to face Queens Park.

ABERDEEN, FALKIRK AND LIVINGSTON landed my 3 top Scottish bets last Saturday at 7/10, 4/9 and 8/11 and John McGlynn's Championship leading Bairns look banker material to anchor the acca this weekend when they host Morton at 2/5.

I've tipped ST JOHNSTONE to get the better of Hearts at McDiarmid Park and my pick of the two Premiership matches on Sunday features KILMARNOCK away to Dundee where they're unbeaten in 11 matches.

Current form is more important than ancient history though and Derek McInnes continues to shine as the most likely Scottish solution to Rangers' current woes after a superb midweek win at Tynecastle backed up their recent win over the Ibrox club in Ayrshire.

These two faced off at Dens as recently as 4 weeks ago when the visitors won 3-2 and I fancy Killie to do the away double over Tony Docherty's side at 17/10 ahead of another clash at Rugby Park towards the end of this month.

Elsewhere in Scotland this weekend, Darren Young can make it second time lucky with CLYDE after losing his first game in charge on penalties away to high-flying League Two rivals Elgin in the Scottish Cup last weekend.

The Bully Wee are 3/4 to get 3 points at home to Bonnyrigg Rose and that could be a cracking price with Young having had another week to get his message across to the one-time title favourites.

Newcastle and Arsenal can share the points at 13/5 in tomorrow's lunchtime Premier League kick-off and there's draw value to be had later in the day with Southampton against Everton at 5/2 and Ipswich against leicester at 13/5.

My main selection in England's top league is NOTTINGHAM FOREST to win at home to West Ham with the Tricky Trees at 23/20 to make it 3 straight wins after home and away successes against Crystal Palace and Leicester.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side are looking to match a 3-in a row win record dating back to the dying embers of the 1998/99 season and home advantage can prove key as they look to worsen the Hammers' PL road record to 1 win in 5.

CHELSEA can bring Manchester United back to reality with an Old Trafford win at 8/5 on Sunday and SPURS can initiate a Super Sunday double at 19/5 by beating Aston Villa at 10/11.

There's a massive card for the first round of the FA Cup and my pick of the ties is at Vale Park where I fancy Darren Moore's League Two leaders PORT VALE to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games by dumping League One Barnsley at 9/5.

Saturday SINGLE

Hearts' new-found momentum seemed to stall against Kilmarnock and ST JOHNSTONE look the home win value to keep the Jambos rock-bottom at 14/5

Weekend ACCA

No losers last week but only 3 winners and this week's top 5 will pay out at 27/1.

  • Dunfermline 15/8
  • St Mirren 10/11
  • Falkirk 2/5
  • Clyde 3/4
  • Nottingham Forest 23/20

CELTIC V ABERDEEN    5.30pm  Premier Sports 1

The Dons travel south on a high after beating Rangers midweek but they're a massive 9/1 to win this in 90 minutes with Celtic looking way too short at 2/9.

Jimmy Thelin's revolution is verging on legendary status already and while Celtic are doing little wrong, I fancy the Reds to continue their magnificent run by taking this match beyond regulation time at the general draw price of 9/2.

Back in the fold Duk and speedball Shayden Morris are just two of the Dons' superb attacking options for Celtic to deal with and the comeback from 2-0 down at Celtic Park provides more than enough evidence to think these two could be forced to go the extra 30 minutes.

MOTHERWELL V RANGERS  Sunday 3pm  Premier Sports 1

It's long been a bugbear of mine that some clubs taking on the Old Firm prepare to play the name and not the current team so 6/1 Motherwell need to be focused on their 2/5 opponents' obvious weaknesses.

Rangers have lost to Kilmarnock and Aberdeen on their last two trips away from Ibrox and the club complained enough about having to play at Hampden to suggest that Sunday will hardly be a home from home experience.

My Sun Sport colleague Kris Boyd reckons a Rangers win would only be papering over the cracks on Sunday but I fancy a Lennon Miller inspired Motherwell to push them all the way with the 90 minutes draw the value at 7/2.

ST JOHNSTONE V HEARTS

I tipped the Hibs/Hearts draw at 12/5 here last Saturday but the Jambos' revival crashed and burned at home to Kilmarnock midweek and they look very short at 19/20 to win in Perth.

Alan Forrest's goal seemed to have seemed to have teed up a third straight home win on Wednesday but Neil Critchley's players collapsed to a 2-1 defeat and remain rooted to bottom spot in the Premiership.

Benji Kimpioka's opener in Paisley couldn't stop Simo Valikari's new look Saints going down 3-1 to St Mirren but they're back on home turf and 14/5 looks superb value for the Finn to coach his side to a third win in his first 4 games in charge.

ST MIRREN V ROSS COUNTY

The Buddies built on their solid showing in last week's 2-1 defeat at Ibrox by coming from behind to beat St Johnstone and I'm backing the home side to make it a perfect week with another success at decent odds of 10/11.

Saints had gone 4 games with a point since a home win over Hearts and County travel south seeking a first road win of the season with only one goal in 4 matches away from Dingwall.

The Staggies managed a valuable home point against Hibs on Wednesday but Saints have a tough run coming up at Hibs, home to Aberdeen and away to Dundee United and banking 3 points here will be a priority.
