Enzo Maresca made a brutal decision to substitute Malo Gusto off at half-time for Marc Cucurella during Chelsea's clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

Gusto struggled in the first half at Old Trafford and failed to make the desired impact before Maresca made the decision to haul the Frenchman off at the break. Cucurella, who hasn't started in each of the last three Premier League matches, came on in his absence as the Blues tried to improve after a slow opening 45 minutes.

Chelsea started the game on the front foot and created an early chance to take the lead. Cole Palmer's inswinging cross was met by the head of Noni Madueke, but he hit the post and Levi Colwill couldn't put in the rebound. That came after Palmer saw an effort deflect wide for a corner.

United started to gain a foothold as the half wore on and almost opened the scoring just before the break, as Marcus Rashford struck the crossbar after a cross from Bruno Fernandes.

There wasn't much to separate the two teams at the start of the second period after Cucurella replaced Gusto, up until United upped the tempo and earned themselves a golden chance to take the lead.

United were awarded a penalty after Rasmus Hojlund was taken down inside the box by Robert Sanchez. Fernandes stepped up and sent the Blues shot stopper the wrong way to give the hosts the lead.

However, that advantage was soon wiped out as Chelsea equalised. Moises Caicedo volleyed home from inside the box after Palmer's corner was cleared. It was a fine strike from the Ecuadorian midfielder to earn Maresca's side a share of the spoils.
