Brentford manager Thomas Frank has tipped Bryan Mbeumo to play at the "highest level" amid links of a potential transfer to Liverpool. The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing Mbeumo in recent weeks.

It was reported by Sky Sports that Liverpool were considering a move to sign either Mbeumo from Brentford or Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. It was claimed that the Reds were weighing up moves for either of the duo as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Mbeumo has been in fine form for Brentford this season, scoring eight goals across his 11 appearances in the Premier League. That sees the winger rank second in the Golden Boot race behind only Erling Haaland at Manchester City (11).

It's that form that has led to Mbeumo being linked with a move to Liverpool. The 25-year-old joined the Bees from French club Troyes in 2019 and helped the club win promotion to the Premier League.

Frank helped oversee the signing of Mbeumo for Brentford and has praised the forward for the development that has been made over the last five years. The Bees manager went on to give his backing to Mbeumo to succeed at the top level of the game, should he wish to leave the Gtech Community Stadium.

"I always admire Bryan's [Mbeumo] ambition; I'm privileged [that] I was here when we signed him, and I was flying down to Troyes and had a meeting with him and his agent," Frank told reporters.

"He was a young boy, a young man, at 19. [He] didn't really speak English, and now he's 25 and much more mature as a person and as a footballer.

"He's flying, and I think that development is fantastic. And his ambitions, I love it - you can't achieve anything without ambitions. So I understand him, and I think he's got the qualities to play at the highest level."
