Vaclav Cerny has been labelled 'predictable' - but it is hard to argue with someone not at their best but scoring and assisting.

That is the view of former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady as he delivered his verdict on the Rangers loanee. Philippe Clement's summer signing on loan from Wolfsburg has contributed six goals and four assists so far this season, including laying on the winner for Nedim Bajrami at Hampden at the weekend against Motherwell.

McGeady reckons he is the 'shining light' of the Ibrox squad at present, although he concedes that is nothing to shout about at this moment in time due to the performances and situation on the park at the Light Blues. Asked as a fellow winger what he felt of Cerny's contribution for Rangers so far, the former Celtic man told the Scottish Football Podcast: "I think I said at the start of the season, the first couple of games I was really excited to see what he would bring to the team. Quite dynamic and as the games have gone on I think he's become a bit more predictable.

"I would like to see him play on the other side at times as well. I do think when you understand that you can show him onto his left foot, he doesn't want to go down the line. Like I say, I think he has become quite predictable but saying that, you can't argue with someone who maybe isn't playing at his best but is contributing to the team, scoring and setting up goals.

"I do like his attitude and temperament. He has a good mentality and I think he understands what it takes to play for Rangers. A few weeks ago even - when he is not arguing with the fans but giving a little back - I don't mind that. It shows he has confidence in his own ability.

"He is the shining light of the Rangers team but I don't think that is anything to shout about at the minute with performances on the pitch if I am being honest."
