Unique Celtic trait makes James Horncastle giddy as buzzing Owen Hargreaves puts Champions League on alert

A duo of top pundits are purring over Brendan Rodgers' side after their dismantling of RB Leipzig

A pair of leading pundits have been blown away by the brilliance of Celtic after their demolition of overmatched RB Leipzig.

Brendan Rodgers' side were the toast of the TNT Sports goal show as their thrilling victory had James Horncastle, the Italian football expert without comparison, wax lyrical about a side who have the knack to give the best teams in Europe a fright when they are on their game. The brilliance of Nicolas Kuhn was noted but Horncastle was keen to talk up a style of football he loves to watch.

Speaking on TNT Sports, the broadcaster said: "We had the debate after the Dortmund game, that their style was the problem. And, instead, I think, Brendan will say 'our style, by sticking to it, is getting these results'. When Celtic are good, they are very good. In terms of how slick they are, on the ball, they do cause teams problems. Full credit to them for coming back, and showing slightly different sides of themselves since (Dortmund)."

And if Horncastle was giddy then two-time Champions League winner Owen Hargreaves was on the ceiling. The former Bayern Munich and Manchester United man reckons Rodgers' and Co can take anyone out if they are at their best on home turf.

Hargreaves said: "We know this is a good RB Leipzig side but, to be fair, Celtic absolutely destroyed them. Kuhn, he was brilliant tonight, cutting in on that left foot, he is so comfortable in possession. And at Celtic Park, when this stadium gets going, they make it difficult. At home, they are more than capable of that, with the fans and the way they grab a game."
