Manchester United drop squad hint ahead of Europa League fixture vs PAOK as trio miss training

A 25-man squad was on show at Carrington on Wednesday morning but some youngsters who have recently been involved in the Man United first-team were missing.

Youngsters Harry Amass, Jack Fletcher and Ethan Wheatley look set to be omitted from Manchester United's plans for Thursday night's Europa League clash with PAOK at Old Trafford.

The trio were absent from the open training session the club hosted at Carrington on Wednesday morning and United have since confirmed they have been included in their UEFA Youth League squad ahead of tonight's clash with FK Zalgiris.

United's Under-19s are scheduled to face the Lithuanian outfit in the second leg of their UEFA Youth League second round tie at Leigh Sports Village this evening. United lead 5-2 from last month's first leg.

United have confirmed they have updated their squad list ahead of tonight's game, adding Amass and Wheatley to their plans. Both Amass and Wheatley were on the bench for United's last Europa League game against Fenerbahce.

Amass, Wheatley and Fletcher have all been on the bench for United's last three matches. Jayce Fitzgerald was among the substitutes for the recent clashes with Leicester City and Chelsea.

However, the 25-man United squad that trained at Carrington in front of the media on Wednesday featured just two youngsters - Daniel Armer and Jack Kingdon. It means Amass, Fletcher and Wheatley look set to play no part against PAOK.

Amass, who is yet to make his first-team debut for United, could start at left-back for the Under-19s this evening, while Wheatley has been added to a crop of forwards already featuring Gabriele Biancheri, Bendito Mantato and Victor Musa.

United have also said summer recruit Sekou Kone could make his European debut for the club's youngsters this evening. He made his debut for the club's Under-21s last weekend, appearing as a second-half substitute in their 5-2 defeat to Sunderland.

Fellow new recruit Chido Obi-Martin has not been added to the UEFA Youth League squad for tonight's game.

United's updated UEFA Youth League squad:

Goalkeepers: Cameron Byrne-Hughes & William Murdock.

Defenders: Harry Amass, Tyler Fredricson, Louis Jackson, Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki & Reece Munro.

Midfielders: Zach Baumann, Jacob Devaney, Jack Fletcher, Jayce Fitzgerald & Sekou Kone.
