What Liverpool players wrote on Luis Diaz match ball as Roberto Firmino point made
Colombia star Luis Diaz was instrumental during Liverpool's 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Luis Diaz scored his first Liverpool hat-trick in an inspired performance against Bayer Leverkusen. The Colombian took home the match ball after a superb showing against the German champions, netting a second-half treble in their eye-catching 4-0 win on Tuesday night.
The 27-year-old rubber-stamped the win in stoppage-time after Darwin Nunez's effort was deflected into his path, finishing with aplomb in a no-look strike. Liverpool moved top of the Champions League group stages - continuing as one of the few teams with a 100 per cent record in the new-look competition.
Aston Villa, who travel to Anfield on Saturday night in the Premier League, are now the only other team to pick up maximum points in the European competition. Diaz will be looking to add to his impressive return so far this season with his treble taking him to nine goals from 15 games in all competitions.
The Colombia star took home the match ball and, in a picture posted by his partner @gera25ponce on Instagram, there's a glimpse of some of the messages written by his Liverpool teammates. One wrote: "What a player," while another added: "Okay!! No look, top."
Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport after picking up the player-of-the-match award, Diaz said: "The manager makes it clear to us exactly what he wants, what he wants from us in our positions. The most important thing is three points in this edition of the Champions League, so we can keep progressing in the competition.
"Things have gone so well with the new manager, and it wasn't easy for him to come in to fill Jurgen Klopp's shoes. Hopefully we'll have something to show for it at the end of the season.
"We have some really good quality players, and I really enjoyed playing in that position tonight. I'm happy to be on the pitch, I need to go out and get that ball now, because I need to keep it in a special place at home."
