Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher has been BANNED fora further three games by the Football Association.

It comes after a furious rant in the tunnel against Brentford. A statement from the FA on Friday read: "An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a three-match extended touchline ban and £7,500 fine on Darren Fletcher for misconduct at Manchester United’s Premier League match against Brentford on Saturday 19 October.

"The FA alleged that the coach acted in an improper and/or confrontational manner and/or that he used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official and the referee and/or assistant referees around the tunnel area at half time.

"Darren Fletcher admitted to this misconduct but denied that he was abusive. However, the Regulatory Commission found this to be proven and imposed his sanctions. The Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for its decisions will be published in due course."

The FA ban means that Fletcher will miss the next three Premier League games. He will be sidelined for this weekend's clash with Leicester at Old Trafford.

Fletcher is also going to be banned for incoming manager Ruben Amorim's first game in charge. The Portuguese head coach will oversee his first Premier League game against newly-promoted Ipswich after the international break.

The final game that Fletcher will miss is against Everton. According to reports, the Red Devils are set to appeal the severity of the ban after Fletcher admitted misconduct.

Fletcher's extended ban comes after two angry outbursts. The 40-year-old was initially charged by the FA after being left furious following the Red Devils' win against Brentford.

Referee Samuel Barrott had forced Matthijs de Ligt after a head injury. Brentford's Ethan Pinnock scored from a corner following his exit from the pitch. Footage from the tunnel at Old Trafford showed Fletcher remonstrating with fourth official Gavin Ward after the controversial incident.

A statement from the FA read: "Darren Fletcher has been charged with misconduct following Manchester United’s fixture against Brentford on Saturday, 20 October, in the Premier League.

"It’s alleged that the coach acted in an improper and/or confrontational manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official and the referee and/or assistant referees. Darren Fletcher has until Tuesday, 29 October, to respond."

Fletcher appeared not to learn his lesson against West Ham. The Hammers were awarded a controversial late penalty in their win against the Red Devils.

Fletcher was spotted storming out of his seat in the press box after the decision. He was also heard saying "every f****** week" in response to the decision.
