Andy Coleman makes Swansea City buyout announcement
Swansea City chairman Andy Coleman has confirmed the news that broke on Thursday
Swansea City chairman Andy Coleman has confirmed that he, Brett Cravatt, Jason Cohen and Nigel Morris are set to complete their buyout of the club's majority owners.
News broke on Thursday evening that Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien had agreed to sell their stake in the club they have owned since 2016.
They purchased the club - then in the Premier League - for around £110million, but relegation to the Championship followed in 2018 and Swansea have remained in the Championship ever since.
Coleman, who arrived at the club in May 2023 as the Americans' man on the ground, has now confirmed the story and has revealed Kaplan, Levien, Jake Silverstein and all their investors are being bought out.
He added that he and the new investors were "excited about the significant opportunities our new ownership group will bring".
He said in a statement: "I wanted to share an update with you all personally on the news that broke last night. As you know, I along with Brett Cravatt, Jason Cohen and Nigel Morris are buying out Steve Kaplan, Jason Levien, Jake Silverstein and all their investors. We’re also excited that new partners are joining us in making a major new investment in the club."While we await EFL approval, we’re excited about the significant opportunities our new ownership group will bring to Swansea City. We believe this marks a truly exciting new beginning for the football club. I can’t wait to share our plans in the days and weeks ahead."For now, all our focus is on the game against Burnley on Sunday! I hope to see you there!"
