We revealed Leyton Orient were planning an ambitious bid for his signature last month.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement was quizzed on the player he once had eyes on as boss of Club Brugge.

But in the end Kent returned to Ibrox to hook up with Steven Gerrard again.

Now the former Liverpool kid could be on his way to work with another old boss - but it's not Gerrard this time.

The pair have been rumoured to team up with the former boss now in charge at struggling Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia and Kent's woes in Turkey well known.

Another ex-boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst was loosely linked with taking him across the city to Beskitas while he was still based in Istanbul.

But since Jose Mourinho cut him loose he can move for free - although must only train and wait until January before he plays.

And Leyton Orient are not the only side interested.

Preston's Paul Heckingbottom is trying to sign Kent for a second time.

Boss Hecky worked with Kent at Barnsley and is keen to take him as a free agent.
