Celtic hero Scott Brown was the latest gaffer to fall at the hands of Kennedy who knows how to pull of massive cup upsets.

He was the man who led Darvel to Scottish Cup glory over Aberdeen in January 2023 after Jordan Kirkpatrick's first half goal sealed the deal for the sixth-tier side.

It is considered one of the greatest Scottish Cup shocks in the competition's history.

Now the 44-year-old, who also owns chicken shop chain Black Rooster, has another huge result to add to his CV.

He celebrated the win in the dugout with assistant Simon Ferry.

The Lowland League outfit got the job done despite a nervy second half when Brown's side pulled two goals back and made it level with just shy of half an hour to go.

John Robertson opened the scoring for the hosts after just one minute in the game, with Joao Balde extending shortly after.

It looked like the fifth-tier side were cruising to a shock comfortable win in front of a jam-packed home crowd before Jay Henderson scored for the Honest Men just before the hour mark.

And the tie was level when Marco Rus found the back of the net moments later.

Momentum was on the Celtic icon's side for the first time in the game but a sucker punch from Cameron Elliot gave East Kilbride the upper hand going into the final stages.

And it's fair to say travelling Ayr fans were furious with the shock upset as Brown and his team were met with loud boos when the full-time whistle blew.

Kennedy's side booked their place in the last-four following the stunning win and will face one of Livingston, Dunfermline, Rangers B or Queen's Park in the next round.

David Martindale's men beat Morton 2-1 to reach the semi-final, while Dunfermline beat Alloa Athletic in the matches elsewhere tonight.

Queen's Park host Rangers B in the final quarter-final fixture on December 3.
