Bojan Miovski warned he must 'adapt quicker' as Girona transfer chief lays down gauntlet to ex Aberdeen hero

Bojan Miovski has been told that he needs to adapt quicker at Girona, with the club's sporting director admitting he is looking to bolster their options in the January transfer window.

The North Macedonia international arrived in Spain in a £6.8million switch from Aberdeen last summer but has scored just two goals in his first 14 appearances in all competitions. Girona were the surprise package in La Liga last season and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history with a third-place finish, but find themselves six points adrift of the top four in Spain in the current campaign after the first 13 games.

And now Miovski and fellow frontman Abel Ruiz have been told by sporting director Quique Carcel that they need to do more in front of goal to help fill the void left by Artem Dovbyk, who won a £31.6million move to Roma in Serie A in the summer. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday (via EldesMarque), he said: "Abel has had a good performance in terms of play and surely he must improve in front of goal despite having scored two goals.

"Miovski has had a leading role due to injuries, but he has to adapt. He knows what he needs to improve. He is denied in front of goal, but we want to transmit confidence and tranquility to him."

"There is still a month and a half left until the winter transfer window and things could very well have changed. We have to be cautious, but if we have needs, we will sign what we think is right."
