Curtis Jones has been in electric form for Liverpool in recent weeks since his return from injury. Having returned a goal and three assists from 13 appearances, the 23-year-old is playing with confidence and was rewarded with his latest England call-up ahead of the November international break.

Although still uncapped at the senior level, the midfielder will be hopeful that changes soon as the Three Lions take on Greece and the Republic of Ireland in their final two Nations League matches.

Jones already has a big supporter in interim manager Lee Carsley, having shone for the former Everton midfielder when starring for England Under-21s as they won the European Championships - even scoring the winner in the final - in 2023.

While it remains to be seen if he will be awarded a senior international debut this month, Jones blew England team-mates away in one of their final training sessions before travelling to Greece.

They were left amazed as the Liverpool man netted an impressive four-goal haul past Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford in a training matchthat was caught on camera in England’s latest Inside Training video.

For Jones’ first goal, he received the ball from Marc Guehi before shooting across goal into the bottom corner past Pickford. Impressing captain Harry Kane in the process, the Bayern Munich striker was heard shouting, ‘Yes Curtis, good!’ after the strike.

England coach Ashley Cole is regarded as one of the greatest left-backs of all time. But, taking part in the training match, he was unable to stop Jones for the midfielder’s second goal.

Running onto a loose ball, the 23-year-old holds it up before cutting inside, side-stepping Cole and burying it into the goal in the process.

Jones’ third goal saw him start the move by passing the ball to Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Continuing his run, he received it back before Jarrod Bowen before dinking it over the onrushing Pickford with a smart chipped finish.

The Everton shot-stopper was left donning a sheepish grin as one team-mate declared, ‘Oh, what a goal!’ in amazement.

Jones got the better of Jude Bellingham for his fourth strike as he again received the ball from Guehi. Holding off a challenge from the Real Madrid man, he shrugged him off before working his way past Ezri Konsa and curling home

“Brilliant, Curt, brilliant, Curt!” Kane could be heard celebrating. Liverpool supporters will only hope Jones can get the better of Bellingham again when the Reds host Real Madrid in the Champions League after the international break.

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend John Barnes was present at St. George’s Park to witness Jones’ training masterclass.

And after the session he was touched to receive his legacy cap from Kane after winning 79 caps during his own England career.

“Got something for you. This is your legacy cap,” Kane explained to Barnes. “You were the 966th player to play for England so everyone now gets a red cap to remember that number.”

“Wow! That’s a nice number as well,” Barnes replied. “We could have put a 1-9-6-6, 1966, that would have been the one, wouldn’t it?”
