Juventus have issued an update on star striker Dusan Vlahovic’s fitness ahead of facing Aston Villa in the Champions League.

Unai Emery’s Villa host the Serie A giants at Villa Park next Wednesday night (8pm) in their next Champions League league phase tie. And Juve were given a scare when Vlahovic, who has scored nine goals in 16 matches this season, appeared to suffer an injury on international duty with Serbia on Monday night in a Nations League clash with Denmark.

He was forced off in the closing minutes of a 0-0 draw with a muscular problem. Vlahovic was asked about his injury after the final whistle, and he said: “I felt pain in my thigh, I couldn’t finish the match. I’m sorry. I’ll see what the situation is after the inspection in Turin.”

Juventus have now issued a statement, saying: “Following the left thigh muscle discomfort felt yesterday with his national team, Dusan Vlahovic underwent diagnostic tests today at J|Medical. The tests ruled out injuries and his condition will be monitored daily.”

Meanwhile, former Villa man Douglas Luiz is said to be facing a race against time to prove his fitness before the Champions League clash against Villa, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato. The Brazilian hasn't featured in any of Juventus' last six games in all competitions due to muscle fatigue.
