Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero believes there is a high possibility Viktor Gyokeres could join his former coach Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

A number of Sporting Clube de Portugal players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford since Amorim arrived in Manchester this month. However, Gyokeres is the name that has featured predominantly in recent weeks.

There has been some sense of excitement from supporters who are keen to see who Amorim could sign in his first transfer window. Although the market will open in the new year, the Portuguese coach has already ruled out raid his former club for players in the winter.

It was later reported that Amorim made a 'gentleman's agreement' with Sporting CP not to approach any of their players in January as United head coach. With that said, a move for Gyokeres in the summer could still be on the cards.

And the former City striker Aguero has shared his transfer theory over the Swede's future, admitting the Amorim connection could be a key factor. Speaking to Stake, he said: "I haven't seen too much of Viktor Gyokeres, but I know he's a striker with a great record.

"Teams flock to players like that when that's what they're missing. If he has a good rapport with Ruben Amorim, I think that makes a move to Manchester United even more probable. We'll see."

Amorim, meanwhile, did leave the door open for possible reunions at the end of the season. "What happens in the summer I don't know. Sporting players are good players. We will see what happens," he said.

Elsewhere, United are keeping tabs on 17-year-old right winger Geovany Quenda. The attacker was handed his Sporting debut by Amorim last season.
