How to watch LA Galaxy vs. Minnesota United: Streaming, odds, time for MLS playoff game

The Los Angeles Galaxy, a once upon a time Major League Soccer powerhouse, has their sights set on a return to MLS Cup glory a decade after winning their last league title.

Minnesota United FC is still is seeking their first MLS Cup appearance, having come tantalizingly close in the 2020 playoffs.

The Galaxy enter the conference semifinal matchup against Minnesota on a real heater, having clobbered the Colorado Rapids by a combined score of 9-1 over two games in Round 1. Minnesota United, meanwhile, beat Real Salt Lake in two penalty shootouts to advance.

After missing the playoffs in five of the last seven seasons — with both of those playoffs appearances ending at the hands of their noisy neighbor to the north, LAFC — the Galaxy retooled their roster over the past two transfer windows. The club brought in Joseph Paintsil and Gabriel Pec before the season, and then former German national team player Marco Reus to team with midfield maestro Riqui Puig, forming one of the league's most formidable attacks. The group will vie to add another MLS Cup to the team's trophy collection, which includes five championships in nine appearances in the league final.

Minnesota United surged into the playoff field thanks in part to the addition of designated players Joaquin Pereyra and Kelvin Yeboah during the summer transfer window. Both players, along with Finnish international Robin Lod and Bongokuhle Hlongwane — the team's leading goal scorer this season — will be counted on heavily if the Loons have any aspirations of a road upset against the high-powered Galaxy.
