FORMER Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is on the verge of losing his job, according to reports.

The Dutchman only landed his current role FIVE MONTHS ago but is already under serious pressure.

Former Rangers midfielder van Bronckhorst, 49, was the Gers' manager between 2021 and 2022.

Replacing Steven Gerrard in November 2021, he led the Light Blues on a remarkable run to the Europa League Final and won the Scottish Cup in his first season in charge.

But things turned sour in what would've been his full campaign as boss.

A horror showing in the Champions League coupled with falling nine points behind Celtic meant that van Bronckhorst was dismissed by Rangers in November 2022 after just over a year in charge.

The former Netherlands captain remained out of football for more than a year-and-a-half before making his return to management this summer.

After being linked with the club for some time, van Bronckhorst was appointed Besiktas manager in June.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona ace penned a two-year deal, with an option of a third, to take over at the Turkish giants.

However, just five months into that new role, it looks like things might be coming to an end.

That's because Besiktas have endured a torrid time of things in the Turkish Super Lig.

While they'd have been hoping to be challenging for the title, they're already well off the pace.

Besiktas' last game saw them take a 2-0 lead over Goztepe inside the opening nine minutes - before collapsing to dramatic 4-2 defeat in front of their unimpressed fans.

The result left Besiktas languishing in 6th and they're already THIRTEEN POINTS behind league leaders Galatasaray.

There have been murmurs of discontent from the stands for several weeks, and several reports in Turkey claim that van Bronckhorst could be about to pay the price.

A number of reports claim the Dutchman will oversee Besiktas' next two or three matches, with a potential decision to be made following their derby clash with Fenerbahce on Saturday, December 7.

However, others claim that Besiktas are already searching for a new manager.

Former Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac and Sergen Yalcin are two names who have linked with the job.

And major Turkish outlet Sabah has gone a step further, saying van Bronckhorst's 'suitcase is at the door' already.

The report adds that his departure from the club is 'considered certain.'

It says that van Bronckhorst's words following the Goztepe defeat have curried him little favour both within the club and among the support.

Having arrived to the job saying "all I know is to be a champion and win trophies," on Sunday, van Bronckhorst suggested his team should NEVER have been considered title contenders.

Referring to their showing last season prior to his appointment, he said: "Can you talk about the championship when you finish the league 46 points behind?"

While van Bronckhorst remains in post for now, two key figures have been dismissed by Besiktas in a sign that more change could be afoot.
