Matt O'Riley has endured a rollercoaster start to life at Brighton as he made the headlines again - but for the wrong reason.

The former Celtic star had the worst possible start to life at the Seagulls after his debut following a mega money transfer from Parkhead was ended within minutes in a EFL Cup tie with Crawley Town. A horror tackle forced the midfielder off and left him sidelined for months before a sensational return against Man City that ticked off another first as his EPL bow ended with a winning goal in a comeback win over Pep Guardiola's side.

But in a run of firsts, it was a moment of misery this time around for the former Fulham man as he turned his back on a corner into the box with the ball striking his back and ending in his own net. It put the Cottagers 2-1 ahead with Alex Iwobi making sure of the points after earlier strikes from the former Arsenal and a leveller from Carlos Baleba.

And to make matters worse for the former Hoops fans' favourite - a big player under Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou before his move south of the border - ex-Rangers player Calvin Bassey was pictured loving life and lapping up the misery for O'Riley. His celebration and huge smile on his face as he wheeled away didn't go unnoticed.
