Concerned Kenny Miller admits he can't see beyond Celtic as the heavy favourites going into the Premier Sports Cup final with Rangers.

Despite a lacklustre start to the domestic campaign, Philippe Clement's side have slowly been building momentum with a sting of impressive showings - capped off with a battling display against Tottenham in the Europa League that left the Premier League side lucky to leave Glasgow with a point. The clouds around Ibrox appear to be clearing as they make the journey across the city to Mount Florida in a bid to keep the Premier Sports Cup in their trophy cabinet.

But former Ibrox and Parkhead striker Miller isn't confident that the Light Blues will be able to claim the silverware - as he pointed to Brendan Rodgers' record on derby day with the Hoops's boss suffering just one defeat. He also noted the experience of the Celtic squad with a number of their players boasting experience of big results in Old Firm fixtures.

Speaking to Betfred, Miller said: “It’ll be a tight affair. They always are. Celtic have been better in terms of their performances in recent Old Firm games, but the results have been really, really tight and I can’t see this being any different. It could be won by the odd goal.

“I’d love to be confident and say a Rangers win, but this Celtic team are favourites for a reason and that’s not only due to the record the manager’s got, but they’ve also got more big game players and they’ve been proven in the fixture.

“There’s a lot of new players in this Rangers team, but could one of them step up and be the hero and score a cup final goal and be remembered forever? For either side, if you can score the winning goal, you’re going to be remembered forever, so what a chance this is for these Rangers players to step up to the plate and bring the trophy home.”
