Chris Kamara will be reunited with his former Soccer Saturday partner in crime Jeff Stelling on Boxing Day.

Kamara worked alongside Stelling for 24 years on Sky Sports, becoming a much-loved duo on Saturday afternoons. He left Sky at the end of the 2021/22 season, shortly after revealing that he had apraxia, a condition which affects speech, balance, dexterity and strength.

The 66-year-old former midfielder has been busy pursuing other avenues, appearing on the Masked Singer, presenting a podcast and releasing an autobiography, but he is now set to return to the screen alongside Stelling.

He has been lined up as a guest on Amazon Prime Video’s Every Game Every Goal show for Boxing Day, which is presented by Stelling, who left Sky in 2023. Amazon will be screening all 10 Premier League games on Boxing Day and December 27 and have recruited Kamara to drum up further interest in their broadcast.

On Monday, Kamara tweeted: “Best phone call ever this afternoon, inviting me to do the Forest v Spurs game on Boxing Day, reporting back to the Unbelievable Jeff Stelling in the studio. I thought I was done, so it’s a big thank you, Amazon. ‘I’m back’.”

Stelling replied: “And I am looking forward to it as much as you mate. There’s a goal at the City ground but for who Chris Kamara ?……”

Explaining how the link-up came about, Kamara added: “Love ya mate, Andrew (Buzz) Hornet rang me and I just said ‘I’d love to work with you again on football’ totally unexpected.”

Former boxer Tony Bellew replied: “Now this has put a smile on my face”. Presenter Laura Woods wrote “love this” with a tearful emoji.

“That’s made my day. Go get em Kammy,” one fan replied. Another added: “Great news Kammy, or should we say ‘Unbelievable Jeff’”. A third wrote: “Great news Kammy. You can’t keep a good man down.”

Kamara has been open about his mental health struggles over the past few years after developing apraxia. Stelling has written about how his close friend slipped down the pecking order at Sky before being told he was no longer wanted on Soccer Saturday.

“From out of nowhere, it all began to go wrong for Kammy,” Stelling writes in his autobiography Saturday Afternoon Fever. “Sky axed Goals on Sunday, though to this day, I don’t understand why.

“They certainly had nothing to replace it with. They kept the name alive for a segment shown on Sky Sports News but it bears no resemblance to the original.

“Previously, Kammy would always have been at the biggest in-vision game of the weekend, but now he found himself being sent to Championship or League One fixtures. He covered them with the same enthusiasm as he covered every game.”
