Under-fire Rangers VAR duo to return this week as ref lands Boxing Day and Celtic gig after Cerny penalty blunder

UNDER-FIRE VAR duo Alan Muir and Frank Connor have been brought out of cold storage and will return to usual duties this week after their Premier Sports Cup final howler.
The pair were dropped by the SFA over the weekend after their huge blunder at Hampden saw Rangers denied a clear-cut penalty against Celtic.
Philippe Clement's men were denied a crucial extra-time spot-kick at the national stadium after Celtic's Liam Scales fouled Vaclav Cerny just inside the box.
On-field referee John Beaton awarded a free-kick for Gers and the VAR pair, led by Muir, failed to overturn the decision.
New Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart demanded answers from the SFA as to why the duo never ordered a review.
Referees' chief Willie Collum blasted the decision not to award the spot-kick as "unacceptable" and admitted it was a straightforward call for the officials to get right.
Muir and Connor were then not involved in any fixtures over the weekend after Collum confessed there must be "accountability" and decided to take both officials out of the limelight.
However, they will make their returns after Christmas.
Frank Connor has been handed linesman duties at Rugby Park on Boxing Day for Kilmarnock vs Aberdeen, while Muir has to wait three more days.
He has been appointed VAR for the December 29 clash between St Mirren and Dundee.
Connor will also be involved at Celtic Park that day too.
He will be running the line once again - for Celtic's clash with St Johnstone.
