Mason Mount 'facing months on sidelines' as Man Utd's worst injury fears realised
Mason Mount has been plagued by injuries since joining Manchester United in 2023 and his latest setback is set to see him spend months on the sidelines in a blow to Ruben Amorim
Mason Mount could be ruled out for a matter of months after suffering a leg injury in Manchester United's derby win over Manchester City.
The Red Devils midfielder was able to last just 14 minutes before being forced off the field and cut an emotional figure as he made his way off the pitch. The 25-year-old was 'really, really sad' in the dressing room in the aftermath of his latest injury, having struggled to stay fit since arriving at Old Trafford from Chelsea.
It appears another lengthy spell is on the horizon for Mount, with talksSPORT reporting that the Champions League winner will not return until March. United boss Ruben Amorim has already confirmed Mount was set to be out for 'several weeks', though the prognosis now seems worse.
"I don't know the exact date, but it's going to be for long. And that’s it, it's part of football and you continue."

"What I can do is to help Mase, to teach him how to play our game when he's recovering," he explained.
"To try to use that time for him to think about different things. I think the worst part is that we don't have time to train like we should do, when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.
"With Mason Mount, we are going to help him. It is really hard for a player to be out for so long and is trying really hard, the same for me. If they try really hard, we will help them until the end."
Mount has already spoken of his devastation at suffering yet another injury. The England international remains committed to returning to his best on the pitch to represent Manchester United however.
"Words can’t portray how devastated I’m feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened," he said following the blow. "I knew what it meant.
"United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith. I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved."
