Panned Fraser Foster piles pressure on Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham cynics go for the jugular

The pressure has ramped up further on Ange Postecoglou after Spurs were held at home by Wolves.

Ex-Celtic boss Postecoglou has watched his injury-ravaged side win just two of their last nine games, and they sit 11th in the Premier League table - with #AngeOut trending on X after a Boxing Day defeat against Nottingham Forest. And it was another former Celtic man, keeper Fraser Forster, who found himself in the firing line against Wolves - as he was slated by pundits after being at fault for Jorgen Strand Larsen's late leveller.

Speaking on the BBC's Final Score, Stephen Warnock said: "He's been done at his near post, Fraser Forster. The run from Strand Larsen and the ball from Ait-Nouri is lovely, but then he lashes it as hard as he can at the near post, top corner and the goalkeeper shouldn't be beaten. He turns his back on it, it's almost like he's saying 'it's a bit quick for me' rather than standing tall and being brave."

Whilst ex-England and Spurs keeper Paul Robinson added: "Strand Larsen's first touch is incredible, but he's four yards in on the touchline. The goalkeeper can't get beaten from there. He absolutely absolutely smashes it, but you can't get beaten from the angle that close in as a goalkeeper of his quality. He'll be disappointed."

Forster also found himself being slammed by Spurs fans on social media, with one posting: "Fraser Forster shied away from a football as goalkeeper for a Premier League team. That’s mental and he has to go." Another added: "Tottenham should be looking for another second choice goalkeeper in January cause this Fraser Forster guy is just not good enough to be a back up goalie," and a third said: "Surely there's a kid in the Academy that's better than Fraser Forster."

Spurs had faced another injury scare in the game as Forster, only playing because first choice Guglielmo Vicariois out injured, pulled up with a knock himself - but was able to continue following treatment. That came after struggling Wolves had taken an early lead through Hwang Hee-chan, which had quickly been cancelled out by Rodrigo Bentancur. With Spurs captain Heung min-Son missing a penalty only for Brennan Johnson gave Ange's men the lead in first-half stoppage time, before Larsen's late leveller.
