Manchester City overcame a few wobbles to beat West Ham 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

The visitors caused plenty of problems with a pacy attack but Savinho put City on the front foot by forcing a deflected opening goal in the 10th minute and he continued that momentum. Two goals set up for Erling Haaland either side of half-time made the game safe and Phil Foden added some gloss to the scoreline.

Niclas Fullkrug wiped out the City clean sheet and West Ham finished stronger, but the Blues picked up the win. Here are how the players rated.

Ortega: Couldn't do much with the goal and made a few second-half saves to stop West Ham getting back into the game. 6

Lewis: Impressed as he pushed up the pitch while also keeping his defensive duties, including the inevitable switch to the left. 7

Akanji: Lucky boy to get a foul when Summerville would have been in on goal. More solid after the break. 6

Ake: The defence creaked and strained in the first half with the pace of Summerville and Kudus but Ake, replaced before the Hammers scored, walked off with a clean sheet. 6

Gvardiol: Better going forward than when he had to deal with Kudus, perhaps unsurprisingly. Signs of a good partnership with Savinho. 6

Kovacic: Careless with and without the ball, overhitting balls for teammates or gifting West Ham control with a chaotic pace. 5

De Bruyne: An assist on his 400th appearance but this wasn't a game he really took control of. 6

Silva: An important role in the middle to keep City pushing forward, linking well with De Bruyne and Savinho. 7

Foden: A goal to put some shine on another mixed performance. Some lovely movements and passes, some wayward stuff too. 6

Savinho: The star of the show with two assists for Haaland after he forced the first goal. He surely starts every big game in January. 9

Haaland: A header and then a nice clipped finish, as well as some lovely play to link up with his teammates. 8
