David Moyes a huge favourite at 1/5 to replace Sean Dyche as Everton boss - while Jose Mourinho is next at 6/1 to make a highly-anticipated return to the Premier League

Everton's Sean Dyche became the second Premier League manager in the space of 24 hours to be sacked on Thursday - with new owners The Friedkin Group dismissing the 53-year-old just moments before the Toffees' third round FA Cup tie against Peterborough.

Everton have had a poor season under Dyche in 2024-25 - winning just three games to sit one point above the relegation zone.

Additionally, Dyche - who took over as manager in January, 2023 - has overseen finishes of 17th and 15th respectively in his two seasons prior.

Since his sacking, speculation has already begun as to who will be his replacement at Goodison Park.

And there's an overwhelming favourite to be given the job according to Sky Bet - with David Moyes priced at 1/5 to make a return to the club.

Moyes had a lengthy and successful tenure as manager of Everton between 2002-2013 - guiding the Merseyside club to the qualifying rounds of the Champions League in 2005 and the FA Cup final in 2009.

Also, Everton consistently finished in the top eight in the Premier League during his time at the helm.

Moyes' prospects of a new job have been helped by West Ham's struggles since his departure from the club at the end of last season.

West Ham finished in the top half of the table in three of his five seasons as manager - to go along with a Europa Conference League title and a semi-final berth in the Europa League.

That's a stark contrast from the Hammers we have seen this campaign - with the east London club currently sitting 14th after just six wins from 20 games.

Meanwhile, the second-favourite in the market is former Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho

The 61-year-old has been linked with a Premier League return for quite some time now - and he is priced at 6/1 with Sky Bet to do so at Everton.

Despite his reported interest in a return to the English top-flight - Mourinho's relationship with the Friedkins isn't the best.

Mourinho was given his marching orders at Roma last year by co-owner Dan Friedkin - prompting Mourinho to claim that the new Everton owner has 'little knowledge' of football.

However - if the pair can put personal differences aside, Mourinho back in the Premier League would be must-see TV.

Lastly, if you're after an outsider - Lee Carsley, Paulo Fonseca and Gareth Southgate round out the five favourites at 10/1, 14/1 and 20/1 respectively.

Sky Bet favourites to be the next permanent Everton manager:

David Moyes 1/5

Jose Mourinho 6/1

Lee Carsley 10/1

Paulo Fonseca 14/1

Gareth Southgate 20/1
