Liverpool are already being linked with several potential new signings during the January transfer window. The Reds have until February 3 to complete their transfer business before the window closes again until the summer.

Federico Chiesa was the only new addition to Liverpool's first-team squad during last summer's transfer window. Giorgi Mamardashvili was also signed by the Reds, while the goalkeeper officially link up with his new teammates after completing the rest of the season with Valencia.

Rumours have already been swirling, for several weeks, claiming Liverpool could be in the market for new players during the January window. With three weeks to go until deadline day, it remains to be seen if the Reds will decide to add to Arne Slot's squad for the second half of the season.

Here, the ECHO takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.

Liverpool are, reportedly, in the running to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane. Reports in recent months have claimed that the Reds have an interest in signing the Germany international, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool could have a chance at signing Sane this month, provided they make a suitable offer. Bayern are reported to have placed a £25million price tag on Sane's signature, with his current deal set to expire in just over five months time.

Sane has been in negotiations with Bayern over signing a new contract for the majority of the term. It remains to be seen if an extension will be agreed with the Bundesliga giants, with Sane now able to speak with clubs outside Germany about agreeing a pre-contract deal.

Elsewhere, the agent of Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie has offered a hint about the defender's future amid links of a move to Liverpool. The Reds were credited with an interest in signing Hincapie during the summer transfer window, before he eventually signed a new deal with the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Hincapie's new deal runs until the summer of 2029, but that is not stopping rumours that a move to a new club may be on the cards in the future. The defender's agent, Manuel Sierra, has admitted that Hincapie may take the "next step" in his career rather soon.

"Basically he's a warrior,” Sierra told Caught Offside. "He's a leader. He is, for me, the best left-sided central defender in the world. One of the best left-backs and the best hybrid players for sure.

"I mean, he needs - or he deserves to - play in the world's best places. He's very happy in Bayer, but he's ready for the next step."
