Newcastle overcame an early scare to beat League Two newcomers Bromley 3-1 and progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Cameron Congreve gave the visitors a stunning lead after beating Martin Dubravka from long range in the eighth minute.
However, Bromley were not ahead for long. Lewis Miley fired a thunderous shot into the top right corner eight minutes later to get his side back on level terms.
The hosts were ahead when Anthony Gordon finished calmly from the penalty spot after half-time, and William Osula made it 3-1 with his first goal for Newcastle to wrap up the win.
Bromley put in an impressive showing in their first-ever match against Premier League opposition, but Eddie Howe's side are now on a run of eight wins across all competitions.
Meanwhile, League Two Doncaster Rovers claimed a memorable Emirates FA Cup third round upset after dumping out Championship side Hull City with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory at the MKM Stadium.
It was the first of two lunchtime third-round clashes, as a spirited Tamworth side were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur after extra time.
Doncaster struck first courtesy of Luke Molyneux, before Gustavo Puerta responded to take the game into extra time and spot-kicks.
Harry Clifton scored the decisive penalty to seal Rovers a place in round four, as former Hull head coach Grant McCann came back to haunt his former club.
Abu Kamara forced Chelsea loanee Teddy Sharman-Lowe into an early save in the Doncaster net. Puerta was next to come close with a strike which just cleared the crossbar, and it seemed to be only a matter of time before Hull found the breakthrough.
Ryan Giles then picked out Harry Vaughan for a blocked effort inside the box, before Sharman-Lowe produced a fine stop to keep out Joao Pedro's free-kick and claimed Vaughan's header on the follow-up.
There was still a chance for Kamara to spurn a late opportunity following some delightful link-up play with Cody Drameh, but he made a hash of his finish in what was a huge reprieve for the League Two side.
But for all of Hull’s pressure, it was McCann’s visitors that broke the deadlock seven minutes after the restart.
Molyneux was coolness personified as he slotted home after latching onto Joe Sbarra's pass and fired home into the bottom corner.
Ruben Selles' side were struggling to find a way past a stubborn Doncaster backline which confidently dealt with a flurry of Hull corners.
The Tigers were becoming increasingly frustrated, but did call Sharman-Lowe into action when he kept out a diving header from Xavier Simons.
Hull did restore parity in the 80th minute through Puerta's first goal for the club when he rifled home on the rebound after an initial strike from Simons cannoned onto the post.
The hosts were eager to avoid extra time and came agonisingly close to wrapping up the victory inside 90 minutes when Lewis Coyle inexplicably shot over the bar following some desperate Doncaster defending inside the box.
Hull were largely dominant during extra-time and bombarded the Doncaster defence with a series of crosses.
But it was almost Doncaster that stole a stunning late win with penalties beckoning when debutant goalkeeper Carl Rushworth - on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion - let a cross slip from his grasp.
The 23-year-old's blushes were spared by his defenders, and it came down to spot-kicks.
It looked like momentum had shifted Hull's way when Joe Ironside saw his penalty saved after Pedro scored with the first penalty.
But Mason Burstow squandered the chance to win the tie when he blasted his attempt over the bar.
Sharman-Lowe saved Alfie Jones's effort in sudden death, allowing Clifton to score and seal an epic win for McCann's underdogs.
