FORMER Rangers flop Fabio Silva has issued an apology to his current club's fans.

And he's vowed to repay the trust they've shown in him going forward.

Silva, 22, spent the second half of last season on loan at Rangers from Wolves.

But it proved to be an inconsistent spell in Glasgow for the Portugal under-21 international.

While he showed flashes of brilliance, he didn't quite have the impact many Gers fans would've hoped.

He drew the ire of the Gers fans, too, after they took his gesture after scoring against Kilmarnock as a response to criticism of him.

Silva's loan spell ended with the striker having scored six goals in 25 games across all competitions.

He's been enjoying a better time of things this season, however.

At least he had been until the weekend just gone.

Silva - a £35million signing for Wolves from Porto in in 2020 - headed out on loan again.

He headed for Spain to join La Liga outfit Las Palmas for the season.

Silva quickly established himself in the side and has scored five times since making the move.

He had an incredible moment to remember back at the end of November when he scored a stunning winner against Barcelona.

Silva struck to secure a famous 2-1 win for Los Amarillos.

That was a moment to remember but this weekend he had one to forget.

Las Palmas hosted Getafe in a game they'd have fancied their chances of winning.

They had a great chance of taking the lead when the referee pointed to the spot in the 55th minute.

With the score at 0-0, Silva stepped up to take the penalty and the golden chance to give his side the lead.

His attempt, however, didn't have much pace or power on it and Getafe keeper David Soria read it all the way.

He got down quickly, saved Silva's spot kick and then kept a hold of the ball.

It proved highly costly, too.

15 minutes later, Coba da Costa fired Getafe in front before Borja Mayoral made it 2-0 four minutes from time.

Former Man Utd star Adnan Januzaj hit back for Las Palmas but they couldn't find a leveller.

Gutted Silva has now taken to social media to APOLOGISE for missing the penalty.

And he's told Las Palmas fans that he takes full responsibility - and has vowed to repay the faith shown in him.

Taking to social media, Silva said: "I always assumed responsibilities, and I will always assume them. It's part of me.

"I want to apologise to the UD Las Palmas fans.

"I will continue working to improve and return all the trust you have placed in me."
