Sevilla director of football Victor Orta is said to have ‘categorically denied’ Aston Villa transfer chief Monchi visiting the Spanish club for transfer talks.

Villa have been linked with a January move for Sevilla defender Loic Badé. According to reports in France, Villa have made enquiries about the 24-year-old, who is reported to also be of interest to Premier League leaders Liverpool and top-four hopefuls Newcastle United.

But Estadio Deportivo report Orta ‘categorically denied’ that Monchi had been at Sevilla’s HQ for talks over Badé. “There is no offer received by the club for Kike Salas or Badé,” they report him saying when asked about both players.

Marca also report on claims of Monchi holding face-to-face talks with Orta. "I don't know, right? No, no, Monchi hasn't been to the Sports City today. Really, right?"” Marca report Orta saying.

Monchi is said to have been in Spain at the weekend when he attended games involving Celta Vigo - amid links between Villa and defender Oscar Mingueza - and Sevilla.

With Pau Torres out of action for up to two months through injury, Tyrone Mings only recently back from a long layoff himself and Diego Carlos attracting transfer interest, Villa are in need of defensive reinforcements.
