A FORMER Celtic star has told 'rubbish' singer and Hoops fan Rod Stewart it's time to hang up his microphone.
The comments come years on from the 'Maggie May' musician having a pop at the player.
In December 2021 he questioned the managerial capabilities of seven-time Premier League winner and ex-Celt Roy Keane, branding him a "bully."
Stewart had said to talkSPORT: “I think Roy can be a bit of a bully sometimes.
“I admired him as a player but he’s a bit of a bully. I think there’s a way of speaking your mind and I think he’s far too aggressive.
“He was an elite player but do you think he could be a good manager with that approach?”

The midfielder is most famous as an Old Trafford legend, but spent his final six months as a player at Celtic Park in 2005/06, winning a league title and League Cup.
He went on to have very mixed fortunes as manager of Sunderland and Ipswich Town, with his most recent coaching role being as assistant to legendary Celtic manager Martin O'Neill at Nottingham Forrest in 2019.
He was seen as a 'no-nonsense hard-man' as a player which continued into his coaching career, having a strict policy which saw Sunderland's consistent performer Liam Miller transfer listed for regular late coming to training.
Sir Rod's comments on the Irishman's managerial style were brought up recently on the Stick to Football podcast with Keane, Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Jill Scott.

Keane said: “He has a go at everybody! Who does he think he is?”
Scott then asked Keane what he had done to upset the singer.
He replied: “I did nothing, why do you think I did something? Rod Stewart slags everybody off, who does he think he is?
“He has a go at everybody, he has a go at everybody! Rod Stewart, Who does he think he is?
"He’s not great. Great at what? Singing? I saw him a few years ago, he was rubbish. Rubbish, I swear.
"He was rubbish that night. It’s like we have bad games. I didn’t say he’s not a good singer, he was just rubbish that night I saw him.
“He’s pushing on a bit now, there must come a point like a boxer where for a singer you go, ‘You’ve had a good run, enough’s enough’.
“We’ve had it as players. When do people say to a singer, ‘Come on, you’ve had a good innings, enough’s enough, get off the stage’."
Former Faces front man Stewart did recently announce that he would be scaling back his concerts but with no plans of retirement, as he celebrated his 80th birthday earlier this month.
The Parkhead club even paid tribute on the rocker's big day.
Despite sporting the green and white for many years, he hasn't always seen eye-to-eye with fans.

At a recent AGM, he was discussed when a pensioner Celtic fan asked if Stewart would put his money where his mouth is and invest in the club.
And in 2023, he was pictured flipping the middle finger to the Green Brigade, who booed him as he arrived at Celtic Park for a game the fan group was banned from attending.
