Leandro Trossard has responded to Mikel Arteta after being labelled the biggest moaner at Arsenal.

Gunners manager Arteta last month labelled the Belgian forward as the squad's biggest moaner, a trait he admires because it shows Trossard's will to win.

Speaking ahead of the New Year's Day match against Brentford, Arteta had praised Trossard: "Leo is naturally a bit of a moaner but I like that because he's very competitive and you have training sessions, he's always busy with the referee's decision, because he wants to win. That's what I love.

"He always wants to be the best and when he's not there, he's not happy. But that's what pushes him."

As Trossard gears up for his 100th appearance for the club against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, following his transfer from Brighton in January 2023, he acknowledged Arteta's comments, which could be construed as negative. He openly admitted that sometimes his body language made him look unhappy when playing.

Yet, Trossard said: "I'm just a winner and, if a decision goes against me and I think it's unfair, I take that really personal, I would say so whether that is in training or in games. I want to win every game. And I think that should be the mindset of every football player.

"I guess you want to play, you want to start, that's obviously only natural. I would say maybe the body language at that point could be.

"But I'm always ready. And I think I've shown that as well, even if I'm on the bench, that I can make an impact, as a sub. And, and I want to do that in both ways. If I'm a starter or a sub, I want to help the team to win games."

Trossard, 30, who has a year and a half left on his current contract with an additional 12-month option, expressed his desire to remain at the club. He stated: "I'm just focused on my football. But you never know in football how things turn out but I'm, really happy here.

“I still want to win things here and I think there’s a great squad, a great team with a great manager who pushed us every day to achieve great things.”
