Mohamed Salah has dropped the biggest hint yet that he's set to extend his stay at Liverpool, following a match-winning performance against Lille in the Champions League.

The Egyptian king notched up his 50th European goal for the Reds as they overcame Lille 2-1 after the visitors went down to 10 men.

With his current deal winding down, Salah's future has been shrouded in uncertainty, but when probed by Amazon Prime Video on whether he'd hit another half-century of goals in Europe for Liverpool, he responded: "I'm not sure about that, but I'll give it my best."

This reply has sent waves of optimism through the Liverpool fanbase, who have seen Salah grow into one of the world's best forwards since joining in 2017.

Salah's pivotal role was once again on display as he opened the scoring against Lille, guiding Liverpool to the last-16 of the Champions League. His goal came from a sublime Curtis Jones assist, and despite Jonathan David's equaliser for Lille, Harvey Elliott secured the win with a deflected long-range effort.

Despite some tense moments, Salah expressed satisfaction with the team's overall performance, especially as his landmark goal contributed to a crucial victory. "Something I'm very happy and proud of, especially as we won the game because that's the important thing," he said of hitting the 50-goal milestone. "I wasn't focused about it before the game to be fair.

"They had a really good gameplan and have been unbeaten for 21 games so quite a tough team. We give them credit but I'm glad we managed to win the win.

"We recovered the ball from them, Curtis passed the pass very well and I managed to score. They went for the counter attack and managed to score. Little bit disappointed about it because the clean sheet is very important.

"I think the manager will speak about it so we'll see. When you want to win a big tournament you need a big squad. We have good talent, players working very hard, the manager also has a good idea so we just have to give it a try and we'll see."

Although Liverpool have secured a spot in the last-16, a point against PSV Eindhoven in their next match will seal a first-place finish in the group stage.
