Diego Carlos has spoken for the first time about his Aston Villa exit, as the Brazilian defender joins Fenerbahce.

Carlos has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Turkish giants to play under Jose Mourinho, after two and a half years at Villa Park. And he said: “I am very happy to be here, I will do everything I can for this club.”

“Welcome to our family, Diego Carlos,” said Fenerbahce as they confirmed the transfer. “Our club has finalized an agreement with Aston Villa and Brazilian center-back Diego Carlos for his transfer. Diego Carlos has signed a 3.5-year contract with our club. We warmly welcome our new player to the family and wish him great success, victories, and championships with Fenerbahçe.”

Villa said: “Aston Villa Football Club would like to wish Diego good luck in his new professional chapter." The 31-year-old made 58 appearances for Villa after joining from Sevilla for £26m in 2022. It is claimed Villa’s deal with Fenerbahce for Carlos is about €10m (£8.5m).
