Rob McElhenney pays Birmingham City big compliment after surviving Wrexham test
The actor watched his club draw 1-1 with league leaders Birmingham City and spoke via video link after the game
Rob McElhenney expressed his pride at Wrexham’s draw with League One big-hitters Birmingham City – and proclaimed Blues the best team in the division.
The actor, who co-owns Wrexham with Ryan Reynolds, was not at the game, instead he watched it from a venue in Inglewood, California along with fans of both clubs.
Speaking after the game he said: “Hey Wrexham fans, it's Rob. I am not atThe Racecourse even though it looks like I am. I'm at a place called Cosm Los Angeles, which is where we come to watch the games. It's absolutely incredible. You get to be surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of people, and make us feel like we're really there.
“I just want to say thank you for an incredible game tonight, 1-1, I'll take that against Birmingham City, who were probably the best side we played all season, up to town forever, hope to see you soon.”
That verdict came after Wrexham pushed Blues all the way, indeed had more chances to win the game. They took the lead through Ollie Rathbone in the first half only to concede an equaliser to a set-piece – attributed to Lyndon Dykes.
The draw leaves Wrexham in third place, five points behind leaders Birmingham having played two games more.
