Adama Traore taunted Lisandro Martinez in the latest chapter of their ongoing feud after Manchester United's narrow victory over Fulham.

The two players clashed on the opening day of the season, with Martinez claiming after the final whistle that he 'killed' the Fulham winger in their individual battles.

It prompted a frosty response from Adama, who tagged Martinez in an Instagram post alongside the caption: "Don't worry, we will meet again."

The pair renewed their hostilities during United's victory over Fulham on Sunday night, with Martinez scoring the winner for the Red Devils in the closing stages of the match.

At one point, Adama shoved the United defender during a brief tussle after missing a chance to equalise. He was also on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from his opposite number, with Martinez avoiding a yellow card.

Their feud escalated after the final whistle, with the stocky forward using Instagram to send a provocative message.

He posted a picture of himself walking away from Martinez, who was lying on the ground, writing in the caption: "Tough loss. We deserved more, but we will keep working hard and improving."

Adama was not picked to start by Fulham boss Marco Silva, coming off the bench in the second half without having an impact on the final result. Martinez, meanwhile, produced an impressive display and was hailed by Ruben Amorim after the match.

Explaining what he expects from his central defenders, Amorim said: "They are nowadays the midfielders. Sometimes because you don’t have a lot of space between the lines, you have to find this space.

"They are the players that have the game in front and they have to be there with the midfielders, so it’s really important. When the central defenders play well with the ball, we play well.

"So it's something that Licha does really well, can take the ball and he has to continue. The other guys also have to improve in that area."

Amorim made it clear that he had no intention of asking Martinez to tone down his aggressive approach, saying: "I cannot spend two months saying we need to be more aggressive and fight more and then I say to Lisandro to not fight too much.

"It’s a balance. The important thing is Licha doesn’t want to harm another footballer, that is the most important thing. He wants to win and he shows in every play."
