Eddie Howe has insisted that Newcastle United's transfer business will be very quiet going into the last few days of the window. Miguel Almiron's departure from Newcastle United has been confirmed but he could be the last from the squad as the transfer window nears deadline day.
Matt Targett, Kieran Trippier and Lloyd Kelly's futures are all the subject of much transfer speculation this week. Howe, however, thinks that the rest of his squad will remain intact and unless there is a monster deal to be done, Newcastle won't be bringing anyone else in.
Leeds United were linked with Matt Targett who could also leave, while Lloyd Kelly and Odysseas Vlachodimos have had interest but those deals appear dead now. However, attention has turned to the summer and Newcastle have opened talks with Spanish teenager Antonio Cordero over a free transfer move.
Elsewhere, it promises to be a busy few days. Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran have kicked off a mad transfer scramble with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Man United all looking to add to their squad. The futures of Tyler Dibling - who Newcastle want to sign - and Mathys Tel are also top of the agenda. The deadline for deals is Monday, February 3 - and

James McAtee could leave Man City
James McAtee has been watched by Newcastle United according to reports. The Man City winger-midfielder has been out of the picture at the Etihad, and has attracted the attention of a number of clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen.
Pep Guardiola wants the player to stay at City this month, has told club chiefs similar, but admits if an offer comes in then he could be sold.
"He's going to stay. We don't have enough players," Guardiola said. "We have a World Cup at the end of the season. We have a lot of games. I think he can play more minutes. There are minutes he has to fight for and continue to fight. I'm really pleased for Macca.
"At the same time, maybe an offer arrives where the club say we have to sell him. My opinion on Macca that I said to the club is clear but it is always the club and the club has to take resources and sell players and it depends on what happens."

Tindall tunnel incident
Newcastle United have been hit with a £20,000 fine after a tunnel bust-up on Boxing Day at St James' Park.
BUT it's good news for Jason Tindall!

Mathys Tel transfer
Reports this afternoon that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has landed in Munich to push forward a deal to sign winger Mathys Tel.
That could be a big transfer this window. Talk of £60m. Spurs need some reinforcements.
Aleksander Isak is priceless - Alan Shearer
Alan Shearer has been speaking about Jhon Duran and Alexander Isak, and admits he can't see anyone being able to prise the player away from St James' Park. Speaking to betfair he said:
"When you see Jhon Duran possibly go for £70 million or £80 million, then what does that make Alexander Isak? Nobody in this league could afford him, and why would he go anywhere else? For me, there was never a chance that Newcastle were ever going to let Alexander Isak go, for obvious reasons. They couldn't replace him, even if they sold him for ridiculous money.
Sturm Graz keen on Will Osula
Newcastle United will look to fend off interest in William Osula with a clutch of EFL clubs and European outfits keen on a loan deal.
Sturm Graz made an enquiry earlier this month with Newcastle not committing to the idea of a loan at that stage. Osula has played just 41 minutes of Premier League action since arriving for £15million from Sheffield United.

Ollie Watkins to Arsenal transfer update
Ollie Watkins looks to have killed any talk of a move to Arsenal this window stone dead. Villa boss Unai Emery has been speaking at his press conference today about the player.
“The commitment of Watkins is really a huge commitment to defend Aston Villa. He appreciates how Aston Villa was always supporting him and helping him. Also, when we joined two years ago, how we always tried to get the best of him.
“Now we need him, like he needed Aston Villa in the last years. The conversation we are having usually is about how he is always adapting to every circumstance.
“When some teams are calling us being interested in the players, it is good for us and the players. Some players prefer to leave and some players accept to stay here and commit to Aston Villa and compete for our challenges. One of them is Ollie Watkins. He is happy to stay. We asked him how he is feeling and he is happy here.”

Lloyd Kelly link to Marseille and Borussia Dortmund
According to L’Equipe, both Marseille and Borussia Dortmund are now showing late interest in Lloyd Kelly. Newcastle don't want to sell the defender but there could be a late twist in the tale after Newcastle rejected offers from Fenerbahce and Juventus for the former Bournemouth man.
Juve have changed their stance on Kelly, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, who claim that the Serie A giants have now walked away from a deal after originally seeing their loan move rebuffed. Instead, Juve have signed Chelsea’s Renato Veiga.
Kelly's future could go down to the wire with Premier League interest also in the defender, who can play as a centre-back or left-back. Eddie Howe, however, is confident there will be no more exits from his squad before the deadline.

Saudi bids truth
Eddie Howe has admitted that Newcastle United have not been the 'beneficiary' of many bids from the Saudi Pro League.
A number of Newcastle's rivals expressed concern to the Premier League after Al-Ahli signed Allan Saint-Maximin from the Magpies a year-and-a-half ago. However, the £25m deal was deemed to be of fair market value, as per the rules introduced in the aftermath of Newcastle's takeover, and evidence was found of players of a similar age, position, ability and CV moving for such amounts outside the Premier League.
Now, plenty of Newcastle's rivals are benefitting from that endless Saudi cash...
Maxi on the move?
Former Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin looks like he could be on the move for the third time since leaving St James' Park in the summer of 2023.

Dubravka deal twist
Martin Dubravka is on the verge of signing a new contract at Newcastle, Eddie Howe revealed today. The Slovakian goalkeeper had one foot out of the door earlier this month but Newcastle have decided not to sell him.
Despite talk that fellow goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos could be sold this month, Howe also stated he does not expect any further departures after Miguel Almiron.

Antonio Cordero update - what we know
What do we know about Antonio Cordero? Well, Newcastle have opened talks with Malaga and the player over a pre-contract agreement.
The 18-year-old's contract with the second division club expires this summer.
Cordero made his debut for Malaga in 2023 and has become a regular starter this season, scoring four goals and setting up another six this season. Not bad for an 18-year-old.
He stands at 5ft 10in tall and prefers to play off the left flank, cutting in on to his right foot. However, he can play on the opposite side too.
Cordero had various clubs in his youth career including Sevilla and Real Betis before landing at Malaga. He is out of contract in the summer.

Man City Champions League headache could benefit Newcastle
The draw for the Champions League play-offs have just been made. Man City will face Real Madrid!! Woooof!
Interestingly, the first leg will be played 11th or 12th February - just before Newcastle travel to the Etihad on the 15th. The second leg is then a couple of days after. Could Eddie Howe's men take advantage of any Champions League hangover?
Tzimas in Brighton talks
According to Florian Plettenberg, Greek attacker Stefano Tzimas has held talks with Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler which have been considered as ‘very good’.
Tzimas has impressed on loan and 2. Bundesliga outfit FC Nurnberg, joining in the summer from Greek side PAOK FC. The 19-year-old has scored 10 league goals so far this season, and Nurnberg plan on signing him permanently before selling him on for a profit.
Newcastle have been linked with Tzimas, whose reported price tag of £21m seems very high for a player of limited top level experience. Plettenberg also states that both Tottenham and Aston Villa are engaged in talks, but Brighton are in pole position.
Allan Saint-Maximin wanted by Napoli
Well, here's a potential story. Would you take him back at NUFC in their current situation?

Barcelona have Marcus Rashford doubts
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Barcelona are hesitant about forcing through a loan move for Marcus Rashford this month but would be interested in signing the Manchester United forward permanently in the summer.
Rashford has fallen spectacularly out of favour with United boss Ruben Amorim. There seems no way back for the player, but there is a shortage of takers at the minute. You can see this one going right to the wire with a last-gasp loan deal to somewhere on the cards no doubt.

Arsenal in striker panic after Ollie Watkins deal blow
Arsenal's hopes of signing a striker this window remain ongoing after their £60m bid for Ollie Watkins was turned down by Aston Villa.
Villa are unwilling to sanction two departures this month. Jhon Duran is on the verge of seeing his move to Saudi Arabia go through, so unless Watkins absolutely forces his way out of Villa park, Arsenal may hev to look elsewhere.
They have been linked with Spartak Moscow striker Manfred Ugalde. The Costa Rica forward has impressed in Russia with 16 goals in 22 games this season and has been offered to the Gunners before Monday's deadline.
It is said that former Everton and Juventus striker Moise Kean has also been offered to Mikel Arteta's side.

Paul Mitchell gives Eddie Howe clear transfer message
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has said the Magpies' recruitment hopes for the last few days of the window are over - but hinted thoughts are now moving towards the summer. Although while many fans dream of a big transfer war chest coming Howe's way, he was cautious about talk of a major spending spree come the end of the season.
His full quotes on incomings and outgoings can be read here as Paul Mitchell & Co send a clear message.

Will Miguel Almiron be replaced? It seems not
Eddie Howe has been speaking about potential incomings:
We knew - barring something huge happening - that we didn't expect it to be a window that we could recruit. I've said that right from from the outset and despite being linked with numerous players, that's still the case.
We're not actively looking to bring players in but hopefully the squad's in a decent place if we can get Callum and Harvey back fit and firing within a few weeks. I think the the squad will look good.
Eddie Howe: "We are a little bit short"
Eddie Howe has been speaking to Chronicle Live about Newcastle selling Miguel Almiron, and how it has left United's attack a little short given the injuries they have.
People are negotiating behind the scenes. I think it's a deal that suits the club and and suits Miggy. I think it's a good time for him to get a fresh challenge and a club obviously that he knows very well, he's got a great relationship with, so I think he goes into very good hands the other way.
But as I've said many times this month, it's a deal that we needed to do. We're a little bit short in respect of that position and attacking areas currently where Harvey's injured and Callum's injured. We're certainly stretched in that area - but it's a deal that we needed to do.

Transfers, injuries and Fulham on the agenda!

Brighton boss reveals Evan Ferguson stance
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has revealed that Republic of Ireland's Evan Ferguson needs regular playing time to hit peak performance again.
Back in training following his latest injury, Ferguson could feature for the Seagulls in their upcoming Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Nonetheless, when quizzed about the prospect of Ferguson departing on a permanent or temporary deal before Monday's deadline, the Seagulls boss said: “I want to keep working with him.
“But like I’ve always said, it’s important to discuss with him what is important for the individual development of the player because that’s the main thing from the club."

Jonathan David £10m offer rejected
A reminder of our transfer exclusive from Wednesday. One of Newcastle United's rivals to sign Jonathan David have had a cheeky bid to sign the Lille goal machine knocked back.
Chronicle Live understands that the Ligue 1 club have been approached by clubs who have attempted to get a deal done now for the 25-year-old. However, an offer - believed to be around £10million for David - was swiftly rejected by Lille.
Newcastle hope to tie up a free transfer move for the player in the summer.
Newcastle open talks for Antonio Cordero
Newcastle United are believed to have opened talks with Malaga youngster Antonio Cordero over a summer move.
The 18-year-old is already a first-team regular with the Spanish Segunda Division outfit and has four goals and six assists to his name this term. Cordero will be out of contract this summer with Newcastle understood to be eager to make a swoop.
Tyler Dibling transfer deadline
News coming out of Spurs this morning is that they want to complate a move for Tyler Dibling before the transfer deadline. Dibling is someone Newcastle are keen on, but would need to wait until the summer.
Reports claim Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is hoping to complete a deal for Dibling, rated at £50m by Southampton, before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Spurs have also had a bid accepted by Bayern Munich for Mathys Tel. May be a case of one or the other.
