Lisandro Martinez cries as Man Utd ace goes off 'seriously injured' on stretcher
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was in tears as he was stretchered off during the Red Devils' Premier League clash against Crystal Palace
Manchester United's defender, Lisandro Martinez, was visibly upset as he was stretchered off the pitch at Old Trafford due to what seemed to be a severe knee injury.
The centre-back fell to the ground after a tackle during the 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace and immediately signalled for medical assistance - in a huge blow to him and manager Ruben Amorim.
The 27 year old was seen clutching his left knee and was evaluated by medics for several minutes before being taken off the field.
Despite receiving a compassionate round of applause from the crowd as he exited the pitch, Martinez was seen with his hand on his head, seemingly in tears.
It wouldn't be the first big injury that the Argentinian has experienced. In his first season at Old Trafford, he spent months off the pitch with a broken metatarsal. Following his return, he then faced a freak injury after his knee moved out of position awkwardly when facing West Ham.
Fans have been reacting to the incident on X with one fan writing: "Remember when Martinez went down because someone went flying into his planed leg the other season? I'm sure he was holding the same place, same leg. Hopefully not as bad as first seen but was in tears, never a good sign."
Another added: "I'm more upset with the Martinez injury than the result itself," whilst a third said: "That injury to Lisandro Martinez has got to be a big worry for Ruben Amorim and the team - hoping he recovers quickly."
