Former Liverpool hero Robbie Fowler has been handed his next job having recently missed out on the managerial post at Bolton Wanderers. The ex-striker will be on the touchline as an ITV pundit when the Reds face Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup this weekend.

The start to February marks a respite from the Premier League title race for Liverpool as they return to cup duties. On Thursday they play Tottenham Hotspur in a Carabao Cup semi-final return leg at Anfield before travelling down to Championship outfit Plymouth three days later for the FA Cup fourth round.

To advance in the latter competition they had to beat League Two's Accrington Stanley at home, during which Fowler appeared as a pundit for match broadcasters ITV. He shared his strong opinions on Darwin Nunez that afternoon and has turned out to be such a hit he has been invited back to the next round.

Coverage of the FA Cup clash at Home Park will begin at 2.15pm on ITV1 with kick-off at 3pm. Fowler and former England Women's international star Karen Carney will be the pundits alongside presenter Mark Pougatch. The match commentators will be Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon.

Fowler may be pleased to follow his beloved Reds again on his next assignment, though it would appear to be a return to management he desires most in his post-playing days.

The 49-year-old has not taken charge of a club since bizarrely being sacked by Saudi Arabian side Al Qadsiah in October 2023. He had only taken the job months prior and had won manager of the month the week before.

Last month Fowler had put himself forward for the then-vacant post at League One's Bolton Wanderers, however ended up losing out to former Argyle boss Steven Schumacher.
