Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the latest Arsenal transfer news, views and opinions. The January transfer window closed on Monday, but there still continues to be plenty of reaction to it.
Throughout January, the Gunners were linked with several big names, including Ollie Watkins, Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak. However, despite Mikel Arteta's public calls for reinforcements, no new players arrived at the Emirates Stadium.
The Spanish manager was keen to strengthen his squad. Mathys Tel was a late potential addition for Arsenal, but Tottenham Hotspur quickly secured the Bayern Munich forward.
With Arsenal trailing Liverpool by six points in the Premier League title race, and the Reds having a game in hand, the pressure is on Kai Havertz to score goals and stay fit.
Meanwhile, Arsenal can start planning for the summer. Whether they'll pursue Dusan Vlahovic or Viktor Gyokeres remains to be seen.

The two new Arsenal signings no one has noticed
Arsenal did not welcome any new signings in the January transfer window despite their search for an attacker.
When asked about the club not bringing in a striker, Mikel Arteta delivered a clear verdict. "We had a clear intention which is always there is a window open to explore the opportunities to improve our squad with players that can impact it," he said at a press conference on Tuesday.
"We haven't achieved it so we are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring certain kind of players and we have to be very disciplined with that as well and I think that we will."
While no new signing arrived, in comparison to the players available at the start of the season, two new signings technically have been made.

Premier League statement after Arsenal celebration controversy
Myles Lewis-Skelly's goal celebration from Arsenal's 5-1 win against Manchester City has seemingly resulted in a Premier League statement being released.
The 18-year-old scored Arsenal's third and proceeded to copy Erling Haaland's celebrations with discourse following that very mixed.
As revealed by the Premier League's chief football officer, Tony Scholes, celebrations will be monitored going forward.
"There's a balance," he said. "I think we all like to see celebrations. Some of the celebrations have been very funny, entertaining, but there's a line. Once it crosses over into mockery or criticism then we would need to deal with it."

Arsenal 'approach' and summer transfer hint
The January transfer window was a quiet one for Arsenal, despite Mikel Arteta being keen to add to his squad over the window.
The Gunners didn’t add any new signings to their squad, despite their need for attacking reinforcements. With that being said, take a look at some of the big transfer stories that are likely to be on the agenda again this summer.

Arsenal drop double team news hint
With the January transfer window having closed, all the focus is back on Arsenal's upcoming fixtures with the first of those a huge Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle United.
As Arsenal are out of the FA Cup, following this game Arteta and his players will have a 10-day break, a portion of which will be spent in Dubai, before returning to Premier League action at Leicester City.
With that in mind, Arteta will likely name a strong team and two of the names in his starting XI could have just been confirmed.

David to Arsenal transfer message sent
Former Premier League defender Jose Fonte has urged Arsenal to sign Jonathan David from Lille, having played alongside the Canada international, when speaking to Premier League betting.
I’d love to see Jonathan David at Arsenal, I think he would thrive there. Arsenal are crying out for a striker with his qualities, they play good football and they would suit him perfectly.
Chelsea have a good young squad with up and coming players, that would be another good option for him if it isn’t Arsenal.
I could also see him at Liverpool if Mohamed Salah leaves, although Salah plays on the right, David has pace, finishing ability, link-up play, he plays like Arne Slot likes to.
At the moment I wouldn’t want him to join a club like Manchester United during a really difficult situation.

Jesus injury update after Watkins decision
Gabriel Jesus is putting the work in to overcome his knee injury that will see him miss the remainder of the season for Arsenal. He needed surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament blow and is now on the road to recovery.
His prolonged absence, coupled with Bukayo Saka also being ruled out until at least March, has left Mikel Arteta short of options in attack. Despite this, Arsenal chose against buying a new forward in the January window.

Zubimendi 'agreement' for the summer
As has undoubtedly been mentioned on several occasions, January was not exactly a busy month for Arsenal. However, the upcoming summer window could be the complete opposite as a result.
Deals for the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak will likely be revisited in a few months time and it must also be mentioned that the Gunners have all but wrapped up the signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool have all been turned down by the Spain international which shows how much of a coup it is for Mikel Arteta.
His release clause is in the region of £50million, though reports have claimed Arsenal plan to play slightly over that amount in order to do it in instalments.

Arteta 'confirmed' double Arsenal move
Arsenal endured a quiet January transfer window but two major moves were subtly confirmed.
Injury problems in key positions saw Mikel Arteta's squad stretched to the maximum and that resulted in Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri being fasttracked into the senior team.
As evidenced by both scoring in the 5-1 win against Manchester City, they have shown no issues in adapting to their new enviroment. Currently, both are still listed as members of the club's academy but there is no doubt the duo will soon be formally considered as part of the first-team.

The conversation around Ollie Watkins transfer
Arsenal did not sign the striker they wanted in January and that most observers think they need to reclaim the Premier League title this season. Ollie Watkins was the name throwing up most interest in the final knockings as David Ornstein from The Athletic shares his thoughts;
Villa gave Arsenal an opportunity to do this deal or have a conversation on the basis of a £60million possibility. That was something clearly Arsenal were not prepared to do at that value for a 29-year-old, who in their eyes is probably not worth that much. They decided to suggest around the £40million mark. Villa were being serious when they suggested £60million because that's where they value him. We don't know if it would have led to an offer being accepted, but the door was clearly opened - at that level - and Arsenal weren't prepared to go there.

Every word from Mikel Arteta's press conference
Mikel Arteta has already sat down with the media before tonight's game against Newcastle - and his Arsenal side have a tough task to overturn their two-goal deficit from the first leg. However, their opponents have endured one or two patchy results in recent games, so there is hope within the Gunners camp.

Arsenal have five contract decisions to make
Arsenal were extremely quiet during the January transfer window. So does that mean a hectic off-season awaits? Either way, before potentially adding to their ranks this summer, the Gunners have five contract decisions to make on players in-house either permanently or on loan deals.
Here's a quick rundown on that quintet;
Jorginho - contract expires
Neto - loan deal ends
Thomas Partey - contract expires
Raheem Sterling - loan deal ends
Kieran Tierney - contract expires

Good morning from the football.london team
Good morning Arsenal fans and welcome to our latest news and transfers blog.
Of course, the January window slammed shut on Monday night - without too much senior business from Mikel Arteta and key figures behind the scenes at the Emirates Stadium - but the Gunners and their rivals do have one eye on next summer already.
There's also the small matter of tonight's Carabao Cup semi-final, as well.
Davies decision could scupper Musiala move
Bayern Munich have announced that full-back Alphonso Davies has signed a new deal with the club, and it’s something that could be a blow to Arsenal’s transfer hopes.
The full-back was due to be out of contract at the end of the season, prompting talk over his future at the club. Arsenal were named as potential suitors to for the Canada international.
But he has now put pen-to-paper on a new deal that runs until 2030, and it’s not just his own future that it could have an impact on. Bayern star Jamal Musiala is out of contract at the end of next season, and is yet to agree a new deal with the German giants.

Real reason Arsenal didn't sign Watkins
Finances were one of the major contributing factors which led to Arsenal not signing Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins before the January transfer window slammed shut.
Last week, the Gunners chose to make their move for Watkins having decided there was a substantial need for a new centre-forward as they pushed for the Premier League title. However, their bid of £40m was swiftly rejected by the West Midlands club with Unai Emery's side requesting £60m for Watkins.
football.london understands Arsenal did not see £60m as good value for money for the striker. Watkins is 29-years-old and considering he would be a short to medium term option for the North London club, the finances did not add up for Mikel Arteta's side.
