Hearts lead tributes to goalkeeping legend Gordon Marshall, as ex-Celtic and ‘Well stopper’s father dies aged 85

HEARTS have paid tribute to former goalkeeper Gordon Marshall after his death at the age of 85.
The Tynecastle club said: “The club is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former goalkeeper Gordon Marshall, who made 267 competitive appearances between 1956-63.
“Our thoughts are with Gordon's family and friends at this time.”
The keeper made his debut for Hearts aged 17 in 1956 and went on to win two league titles and three League Cups with the club.
He subsequently won an English League Division Two title with Newcastle United for a fee of £17,5000 and played for Nottingham Forest before signing for Hibs.
He finished his career with spells at Celtic, Aberdeen and Arbroath before retiring in 1978.

He was inducted into the club's hall of fame in 2016.
His son Gordon played for Celtic, Kilmarnock and Motherwell and won one Scotland cap.
