DAVIE MOYES has made a fantastic start to his second spell in charge of Everton and the feelgood factor can transfer to the FA Cup tie against Bournemouth today.

The Toffees lost their first game under Moyes away to Aston Villa but victories have followed against Spurs (home), Brighton (away) and Leicester (home) and the new boss can surely afford to have a serious crack at the FA Cup.

City rivals Liverpool are on their way to Wembley after Thursday's 4-0 thrashing of Spurs in the Carabao Cup and today's visit of the Cherries affords Everton the chance to book a place in the 5th round now that their league position has dramatically improved.

Iliman Ndiaye has scored in each of the last three games after bagging the clincher against Peterborough in the third round and Moyes looks to have inherited a group of players who look way better than they did under Sean Dyche.

Bournemouth are also in a good position to have a crack at the main cup competition but Everton look determined to make their final season at Goodison a memorable one and recent evidence suggests they're well equipped to win today at a general 9/5.

Previous round knockouts allow five matches in the Championship this weekend and my pick of the bunch is NORWICH at home to Derby with the Canaries looking decent value at 7/10.

The third bottom Rams are on a desperate run of form with one road win all season and seven straight league defeats since their last win on Boxing Day and they were also knocked out of the Cup by Leyton Orient.

Norwich have won their last two against Swansea and Watford and a third straight victory today will put them right into the play-off mix with another home game against Preston coming up on Tuesday night.

ROTHERHAM had a half-time lead at League One leaders Birmingham last weekend but two Jay Stansfield goals killed off hopes of a shock win and the 4/6 chances can find things easier at home to Shrewsbury.

Steve Evans' Millers took 13 points from six games in January as they've climbed the table and this looks a great opportunity to bank their first February points against a second-bottom Shrews side with 1 road win in 14 league games this season.

BURTON are unbeaten in five since losing at home to Northampton and Gary Bowyer's Brewers look overpriced to help their climb away from the bottom of League One with a fourth win in five games.

I've previewed the four main Scottish Cup ties elsewhere on these pages and it's difficult to see a shock result anywhere else with DUNDEE (1/3), LIVINGSTON (4/9) and ST JOHNSTONE (4/11) all likely to progress with home advantage against lower-league opposition.

Saturday Single

BURTON have lost twice to Blackpool this season but recent results have improved and 23/10 looks big for the home win.

Livingston's win over Falkirk put them right in the Championship title mix last week and Davie Martindale's side can take time out to dispose of Paul Hartley's League One title challenger Cove Rangers with the prospect of a glamour tie generating much needed funds in the next round.

The Championship action is at FALKIRK where John McGlynn's second placed Bairns can take advantage of Ayr's Scottish Cup involvement last night to go back to the top of the table with a win over Partick.

Scott Arfield looks an inspired signing to give the title favourites a mid-season boost after last Friday's home defeat to Livingston and the midfielder should play his part from the start with Falkirk making my top five this week at 8/15 to beat the fourth placed Jags.

Arbroath against Inverness could be draw material in League One today with League Two table-topping EAST FIFE fancied to get back to winning form away to Spartans at 6/4 after last week's defeat at Elgin.

Weekend Acca

We had four out of five last week and a mixture of league and cup ties on both sides of the border pays out at around 16/1.

  • Everton 9/5
  • Norwich 7/10
  • Rotherham 4/6
  • Falkirk 8/15
  • Livingston 4/9

CELTIC V RAITH ROVERS

5.30pm Premier Sports

The Premiership leaders entertained their home fans by putting six past Dundee midweek and it's little surprise they're as short as 1/33 to dispose of Raith in regulation time tonight.

Adam Idah is 3/1 to score first with Bet 365 but Callum McGregor is 12/5 to score anytime in the cup tie and that could be decent value with the skipper likely to get morse space than usual against Championship opposition.

Raith are 28/1 to cause a shock in 90 minutes and 10/1 for the draw but Celtic are a standout 8/5 to win at -3 on the handicap and that looks terrific value whatever side Brendan Rogers decides to field ahead of Wednesday's match with Bayern Munich.

ABERDEEN V DUNFERMLINE

Sunday 3.30pm  Premier Sports

I tipped Rangers at -3 on the handicap against Ross County last week and an unappealing 1/7 home win price became a 13/5 winner with their 4-0 success.

Callum Davidson will be directing Queens Park operations from the stand due to a red card against Airdrie last weekend but I doubt there'll be much he can do to stop Gers scoring a few goals and progressing comfortably.

Mid-table Queens are 3-3-6 on the road in the Championship and the currently free-scoring home side can be improved from 1/18 to 7/5 by backing them at -3 on the handicap.

ST MIRREN V HEARTS

Monday 7.45pm  BBC Scotland

Saints are blowing too hot and cold to make them a warm order against anyone at the moment and their home form has certainly dipped with three straight defeats since Caolan Boyd-Munce's winner against Rangers on Boxing Day.

Hearts' 6-0 win at Dundee certainly took this home win fancier by surprise but that took their three-match goal tally to 13 and the Jambos are now unbeaten in seven games since losing at home to Hibs at Christmas time.

Both sides should appreciate the extra preparatory time before Monday night's kick-off for terrestrial TV and while Hearts are 6/5 favourites to keep their good run going with a win, I'll back extra-time and/or penalties here with the draw at 23/10.
