Manchester City's midfield maestro Rodri has opened up about his recovery journey from the anterior cruciate ligament injury he picked up in September. The influential player has been absent since the issue occurred during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on September 22.
Despite being crowned the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner shortly after the injury, Rodri isn't expected to don the City jersey again in the current campaign. However, there's a ray of hope that he could play a part in the Club World Cup scheduled for the United States at the season's close.
Remaining optimistic, Rodri shared how he's utilising this period for comprehensive body strengthening with the aim of a robust return. His comments came while attending the Super Bowl LIX sensation where the Philadelphia Eagles thrashed the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Spaniard said: "Well, I always say, it's part of life. Injuries, athletes are used to these kind of things.
"But I'm a very positive guy in the sense that I take it what it is. I always thank God for everything and in these kind of moments try and be positive. And maybe do other stuff that I'm not used to doing, like coming here, spending more time with your family and why not try to improve other parts of your body, work on that and come back stronger.", reports the Manchester Evening News.
Last week, the ex-Atletico Madrid midfielder was named in Manchester City's squad for the Champions League knockout stages. Despite finishing outside the top eight, City are set to face Real Madrid in a two-legged knockout tie later this month.
