Bayern Munich slapped with Celtic quadruple injury blow as £42m star OUT of Champions League blockbuster

The German heavyweights travel to Glasgow with a slightly lighter squad than usual

Bayern Munich could be without FOUR players for Wednesday's Champions League showdown at Celtic Park.

The Bundesliga leaders travel to Glasgow aiming to topple the Hoops in tomorrow night's blockbuster knockout playoff first leg. But Vincent Kompany has been dealt a major injury blow - with three stars certain to miss out. Sources in Germany state Canadian speedster Alphonso Davies has failed to prove his fitness despite partaking in individual training. The full-back has been out of action since suffering a hamstring strain in January's 3-0 defeat at Feyenoord and won't be risked at Parkhead. However, the 24-year-old could return for this weekend's top-of-the-table clash with champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Meanwhile Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha is also sidelined as he struggles to overcome the illness that ruled him out of Bayern’s 3-0 win over Bremen last Friday. The £42million summer signing from Fulham has endured a stop-start campaign, having only recently recovered from a torn muscle. But the 29-year-old playmaker could feature in next week's return leg at the Allianz Arena.

Back-up keeper Daniel Peretz is back in training after suffering a kidney contusion but won't be involved in the matchday squad. While Japanese defender Hiroki Ito - who has yet to make his debut since his £25m move from Stuttgart - is unlikely to be thrown into the deep end as he works towards his comeback from a broken metatarsal.

However, veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, winger Serge Gnabry and centre-half Kim Min-Jae are expected to return to the fold after sitting out the Bremen win.
